Thinking about joining the FCA dessert region to have some opportunity to meet and hang out with fellow Ferrari enthusiast...don't see any up coming events or any recent postings.
    Anyone here a member.?
Can you Pls share your experience.

    Thank You.

I was a member for 1 year but as a Tucson resident, it didn't really pan out since most of the gatherings were in Phoenix or occasionally points north. I did make contact when I knew the club was going to show at the Fountain Hills show with enthusiastic promises to be introduced to other members, however, that didn't pan out as well, but I can attribute that to the general chaos of the event.

Most of their events seem to revolve around dining or event gatherings. I was hoping for more driving events since I was new to AZ at the time . Here's a copy of their calendar from the newsletter I just received today. PM me if you'd like a copy of the full newsletter.

After some research I finally joined the Scuderia Southwest Club that also has some FCA members. The Scuderia Southwest Club has social gatherings but also many driving events which is what I was looking for.

I am a member of the Desert Region and Centeal States Region (Chicago). I've only been out in the Phoenix area a couple of seasons now, splitting my time between summer in Chicago and winter in Cave Creek. The Illinois Region has much more driving/destination events. The Desert Region appears to mainly have dinner gatherings together at local restaurants. That being said, the Desert Region did have a drive recently for the club out to Sugaro Lake. It looked like fun, but my drive was from Chicago to Arizona in a Subaru!

I was one of the founding members of the Desert Region and was the 1st regional director. I spent the better part of 30 years making excuses for most of these guys not being total asses.

Out of frustration I came up with a slogan for the FCA........ "The FCA...... you join for the cars. You leave because of the people".

    Take that anyway you like.

I've been passionate about Ferrari since I was 6, but I bought a McLaren. :)

Gotta love a good dessert in the desert!

If you'd like to join on supercar drives, that have plenty of Ferraris, but also other exotics, check out phxdriven, a local supercar club in phoenix/scottsdale.

I’ve found that just local networking in the Phoenix area has brought me to meet 4-5 really great people. Down to earth and genuinely nice folks.

    Sergio you are correct.!
This just adds to the disappointment for the dessert region area, hopefully its a reorg situation and not permanent.
I live in the Prescott, Prescott Valley area and there is No ferrari's here that I know of all or most are in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area...1.5hrs south of me.
Kinda sad since we have wide open scenic roads, perfect for cars and coffee or better yet ride and drives.
I am optimistic this will change.

Never cared much for clubs but that's just me.
I lived in Prescott for 7 years, out Williamson Valley Road, and had two Ferraris.... a 360 gated coupe and a 250 GTE. I knew a few guys that had other cars, both modern and vintage. Even a Maserati 3500GT and a Lambo 400GT. So they are around, but not common.
Now in Fountain Hills due to health care needs at Mayo Clinic. I do miss Prescott, though.

Mike good to know they are around, too bad you moved away...I agree with your feelings regarding this area it is very nice.
If you are ever up this way reach out we will get together..if you still know anyone with our type of cars send him/her my way.
By the way you have the coolest avatar..George is and will alway's be the greatest General ever..just my humble opinion.

I love the roads in and around Prescott and I usually do 89A (Wickenburg to Flagg) several times/year. Reach out if you want to go driving.

As Ferrari clubs go, I was one of the guys that started the Desert Region and was the 1st Regional Director. Their website being down and maybe toast doesn't surprise me. I spent the better part of 30 years making excuses for the majority of these guys not being self centered, egotistical putzes.

At the beginning it was 'car guys' and it was a blast..... and we grew because it was fun. As time wore on the putzes who believe that making rules and controlling a car club is the meaning of life, wormed their way in (along with the frauds and sales guys), and it basically became zero fun. I spent a fair amount of time getting money back to members who had been scammed by other members. The whole thing left such a bad taste in my mouth, the thought of hanging out with the 'Ferrari Cub' guys makes me dry heave.

I just took a look at the link. It looks like Ken Micelli is the regional director. He was such a good guy and fun to hang out with. I don't envy him dealing with these characters.

From all that I've read this seems to be reality with the club, all I have to say is that is very sad...!
From my experience true car guys simply Love all types of cars and have a mutual respect for one another..I would be turned off in a NY second if I came in contact with that type of personality.

Question is where do we go from here.?

I would love to join up with you when ever you are heading this way...just give me some heads up.
    Thank You for your feedback.
