A curious question. I am looking at buying an unknown year TR in Dubai (I have posted elsewhere on this site regarding my efforts to trace the VIN number). Background information on a car is next to impossible to obtain here.

The car appears to be Swiss specification. In fact it has a Ferrari Club of Switzerland Badge on the rear of it.

I have checked with the Swiss authorities, there seems to have been one TR stolen in Switzerland in the last few years, red / tan like this one, but the serial number (No. 81543) is different.

The VIN no of this Dubai car is ZFFSA17S000090870 which suggests a later car. The car is red with a tan interior. Somewhat less that 27,000 km, two mirrors, otherwise all original except for pre 88.5 wheels and 4 point race harnesses in place of the original safety belts. These modification may have been made after the car made it to Dubai.

Anyone out there a member of the Ferrari Club of Switzerland who might know of this car?

Thanks a lot for any insight you can provide.

Thanks. So far I have sent an email to the Swiss Ferrari Club, to Ferrari itself, posted on fchat and am visiting the dealer tomorrow.

All this for a ratty TR?

Maybe I should undergo therapy. My wife thinks I am the patron saint of lost mechanical causes.

    Cheers to all.

Another possibilty is the Ferrari dealers themselves.
If this was a Swiss delivered car, the VIN will be known by one of the dealers here....there aren't that many. Search on the internet or the Ferrrai site.

Garage Foitek is the largest and oldest, others are Loris Kessel, Leirer, Frey, Nemeth, Pierre Sudan, Modena Cars. Some of these have only recently become Official Ferrari Dealers others, like Frey, were official back in the day of your TR. Most of these guys are very approachable.

    Cheers

I don't think he was ever an official Ferrari importer, so will have no records of Ferraris sold in Switzerland.

For sure and you are right Simon.
Just thought.....the usual way.....buying a Ferrari....after a while its getting boring.....trade/swap for the bull. Thats why he still owns so many F cars - trade ins.
