Hello Ferrari People I’m new here. I have been trolling this site for a few months looking for a little information about Ferrari. The one thing I have learned is that getting good information is like sliding down a 50 foot Razor Blade into a Bottle of Alcohol!
My name is John, I’m 54 years old and have been around Internal Combustion Engines since I was 8. I’m not very smart but I do know how to change Spark Plugs in a Diesel Engine or change the Antifreeze in a VW Bug, “If You Know What I Mean “. I would ask for advice but like my Old Man always told me, “ Advice is useless, a Wise man doesn’t need it and a Fool won’t take it”. So I guess I swing towards the end of this.
Now on to my question. I have a 08 Ferrari 612 that I just changed the Torsion Damper on. I always thought they were Harmonic Balancers, I know one bolts on the Pulley the other bla, bla, bla just a joke. Anyway I Jacked the dam thing up and didn’t disarm the Security Alarm and didn’t have the key near me. When I got back to the car it had stopped the alarm. Now to make a long story short, ha ha, when I try and start the Car everything has a problem, ABS, TBS, TCM, Air Bags. The Car starts and runs fine. Did a cold Reboot tried the crap in the Owners Manuel. I’m thinking it may be the NBC but I’m old and Stupid and long for the good old days. Ferrari is a different breed, I think they complicate it just for the sake of making it more complicated. Don’t get me wrong, they make some great stuff but you can over think things. Then hide as much as they can to top it off. Like Scotty said about the new Enterprise, “ The more pluming you put into the Girl, the easier it is to plug up the pipes .
So if someone has any advice for a stupid old long winded man it would be greatly appreciated. I know there are smart people here, I’ve read Their comments. Then there’s the other— sorry if you can’t say anything nice...

Welcome and congrats on your first post. I picked one piece of info in your post that I have to comment on.
You make being 54 years of age sound like youre 90 years old! 54?? Cmon, thats not OLD!! It doesnt sound like youre in a rest home dribbling soup. So get at it man. 54 is but a beginning stage of the latter 3rd of your life :)

Use a Ferrari specific diagnostic computer (DEIS, Leonardo, etc) to download the fault codes in order to diagnose the cause of the problem. Then clear the fault codes, drive the car and see what codes come back. You are shooting in the dark otherwise.

Can you kinda go through the process of changing the damper.
    For example
    Shut off battery disconnect
    Lift hood
    Change damper

    Etc

Maybe something unrelated like battery is low because the whole process took 2 months??

Were you Joking about the damper because to me thats a big job?
I would think you did many things that could cause this. Likely a plug thats not plugged back in.

    Also what is the nbc?

    Neumatic brake controler?

If the battery hasn't been changed in 3 years I'd swap it out for a new one.. anything more complicated this:

Can I ask what prompted the torsion damper to be replaced?
