Yesterday I was present at Spa during the Ferrari Corse Clienti. Again bad weather, but it was still awesome! I have made a video about the 599XX and Evo and I want to share it with you. I hope you will enjoy the video just like me :)

Not that I dislike them, but I really don't get the purposes of the FXX or 599XX at all. As if SpA cares what I tell them, as a "test driver". And, frankly, most owners probably aren't at "test driver" level. Amusing...

Anyway, they sound and look great. Would be fun to see them in battle beyond track events!

It's another way for them to make loads of money.

The drivers aren't pros probably, but if you make a change to the car, you will still notice it in their lap times. It's a good way for Ferrari to test out some stuff.

I don't disagree that it's a way for Corsa Clienti to make lots of Euros. However, I sincerely doubt whether SpA is going to get any useful data out of this programme. The drivers, for the most part, aren't precise enough to even give proper feedback, let alone specific comments on micro-adjustments. Test driving is a game of repetitive precision. Frankly, I even find it semi-unpleasant when we're testing.

And, for the price of entry, you end up with...what, exactly? You get a VERY expensive track toy that you can't even race in other events. That's just silly to me. But, of course, they've sold all they've built. So, perhaps the joke is on me/us? Clearly the "test driver", elevated status brings enough panache to the table to make this a viable product. On the other hand, if Ferrari sold rocks for $500 as "speed enhancement devices" and it had the cavallino rampante on it, I'd bet they could at least sell a limited number of them.

However, when I meet owners who declare themselves to be "Ferrari test drivers", I cannot help but smirk a bit. Okaaaay, then...

I went yesterday (June 18), it was dry and sunny in Spa for a change :) I didnt think much of the 599XX program before (this was my first time) but now I've seen and heared it in person I LOVE it. The 599XX sounds awesome, so brutal and loud. You should really try to visit one of these events sometime.

Here's a video I've made of the 599XX's and EVO's. In the pitboxes, pitlane, La Source, Eau Rouge and the long straight next to the new pitlane.

I was there on Sunday for the 458 Challenge cars, couldn't make it on Tuesday. Was there free paddock access? Or press card etc needed?

The paddock was a restricted area but we had free passes thanks to the owner of 599XX EVO #4 :)

One of the finest cars at Corse Clienti that day. The ex-Gerhard Berger Ferrari F1/89. A 3.5L V12 with 600HP (and a weight of only 505kg) producing the best noise I've ever heared. I've read this was the first Formule 1 with a 7speed semiautomatic gearbox (with gear levers behind the steering wheel).

You can hear this F1 revving, starting the engine, leaving the pitlane and full throttle through La Source and Eau Rouge :) Sounds so much better than the modern Formule 1 cars!
