What's up with Andreas Daytona R? What happened to the 308? Did you get it fixed?

Great, glad to have you and the Challenge car. BTW: I just sent you some mail.

I should be getting the Daytona-R back next week. Currently it gets a rack and pinion steering installed. I had the 308 at so many events this year already, time to let out the other car.

The 308 is already back with a new and ultra tight water pump belt. No more squeal. Starts like a Toyota.

Sorry guys, even though it's right down the street from me, i won't be in town again this year for this show. Maybe another cruise night in August i will be able to make, then the Ferrari compitition will be less...

Thanks Skip for the play by play. Currently (as in the past few months) the biggest issue still seems to be the friggin windshield wiper. It's always the little things that get ya.

 

I think I'll be going to this. Is Richard bringing the Challenge car on a trailer? I thought Challenge cars weren't street legal...

 

Richard had his 348 Challenge at the dragstrip remember? His 348 Challenge is now street legal by not being as low and with regular tires. The rest (fire extinguisher, cage, lens protectors, tow ring etc) is still there. I like this cool combination. Original 348 Challenge cars were street legal 348 with an add-on kit from the dealer that made them 348 Challenge cars. Only the 355 Challenge cars (and onwards) were factory built as such.

Oh yes, I forgot! But I thought it was a no no for dealers to go back and convert a Challenge car back to street legal?

Hmm, not sure now if I'll be able to make it. Just bought a new car from a different marquee, and will be picking it up tomorrow after bluetooth phone system installed, and don't want to leave one or the other at the office over night. Plus I have a client possibly coming in tomorrow, so not sure I want the TR there. Some clients don't care, some think it's awesome, and some think they pay us too much money.

It'll be very last minute if I do come. Trying to get my friend and his 05 Cambicorsa so come too, or maybe I'd ride with him.

 

Partially right. All 348's were street cars sold with a title and then converted by the dealer with a challenge kit. Any year could be brought to SS specs and then converted. In '94 Ferrari made 45 "factory" challenge cars (mine is #4 of 32 tb's) that were sold as street cars with a title. They came with quite a bit of the challenge kit installed at the factory.

355 CH cars in '95 and early '96 were also dealer converted cars. The difference being they were converted 1st and then sold. They were sold as track cars only and did not come with a title. After '96 all CH cars were factory built, and sold with no title.
