As I have stated before, my car (1976 308 GTB) came without door keys. Recently, I contacted the second owner and he was kind enouph to send me some of the original manuals that had key codes for my car. I was very happy and went down to the Collection (Ferrari Dealer in Miami) and I ordered a new key for about $70.The Collection is not known to deal with older cars....I don't think the parts guy new what a 308 was. They told me to wait two weeks. Recently they called me back and told me Ferrari is no longer providing the service. I could only buy a key blank. How can this be? It should not be that difficult to make a key based on their original codes. Is there a customer number for Ferrari to see if I can get them to make me a key? Please help!

If you have the key code I think you should be able to provide a competent lock smith and the type of key and they should be able to make one for you.

I recently had a key re-made for a 1949 Austin simply by giving him the code from the books and a sample key that fitted in the key hole.

    Cost about $20.00 au IIRC

I have already purchased key blanks....what I need is someone that know my cars key codes so that it can be put on a key blank. I don't have any door keys to be reproduced.

Go to Keys 4 Classics (http://www.keys4classics.com/). You can order new keys from them. I just did this -- the price is extremely reasonable, and shipping was very fast. They don't have an online order form, so just email them with what you want. They'll provide new keys, so you may want to try to return the blank that you already bought. You may want to go ahead and have a couple of copies of your ignition key made and put your originals in a safe place.

    Good luck.
