Fantastic resource - lets hope its only temporary - maybe someone with his email could check & report back
I have tried several different browsers on several computers, at home and at work, and I can't connect.
Site is down. Will see if I can find Ben Deetman's e-mail address. I have a California T owners manual I need to send him, at any rate.
Hi Terry, Database is down due to a 'request' of a lawyer representing Maserati. It will not be up again. Saluti, Ben.
I guess it was always going to happen so maybe this thread should become a thanks to Ben for all his time and effort over the years
Jimmie- Affirmative. Luckily most of us copied a good portion of what was on the site, but with no way to easily distribute it to anyone who needs it. I told Ben he had been great asset to the community in my last e-mail to him, but I am sure he would appreciate hearing from other members. I think I sent him maybe five or six things he did not have, and copied several hundred from him I did not have. I know who came out on the good end of that deal.
I will, tnx for your support. It's still going on, so I have no outcome yet. Glad to hear I did benefit and helped owners and fans. Perhaps this is not a desirable way Maserati wants it. As a big fan of Italian cars, it wouldn't match that I'm trying to do something positive, and the car manufacturer thinks it's negative. So to quit is also the logical way. Saluti, Ben.
If you search hard enough the manuals can still be found on the internet. Once something is out there on the web, it's out there for good.
I do not know how many times I have tried to explain they want control. Not for any benefit but for its own sake.
Good luck with that. Ben had dozens of contacts sending him information and most of it is nowhere else to be found.
I guess it could just be some desk jockey in the legal department looking for something to do, but it's more than that in my opinion. I've worked in a dealership's service department in the past. Where I was, the service department made more than the sales department by far. With Ferrari/Maserati service departments charging upwards of $150/hr in some locations, that's a lot of cash flow considering 8 to 10 bays of techs being paid less than 1/3rd that. The dealership in my city has a glass facia service department...every time I drive by it's nearly full of older cars on their hoists. I don't see why they wouldn't want to protect that revenue by assuring their dealership networks that their precious workshop manuals aren't accessible to the world for free.
Does anyone have a link to a 360 CS download ? I didn't think I neede it since it was online for so long, but now....
Hello Terry, would it be possible for me to get a copy of the California T owners manual, have a car on order and would like to familiarize myself before delivery, Regards Andrew
