How many time have these pictures? It was just before to send the car? Apparently the owner 70 years old doesn t want to wait another restauration. The car is in negociation.
Hi all, I haven't been frequenting F-chat as much of late, but thought you may want to see a couple of my pics of this car from Motorclassica... I'd like to remember it this way rather than the 'after' pics Wish I'd taken more of it of course, but that's hindsight for you. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
So, I guess it "all goes quiet" until they can sort what exactly happened?? Inside job? Insurance scam? Any real news? Thanks for those photos, what a loss.
Stunning color on that Daytona. It hurts to look at the "after" photos. I don't know how anyone, even a criminal, could torch a car like this.
It's all very odd, as they seemed to have little interest in "getting away".....a truck and container would have seen these cars out of the country.. POOF!
Here ya go. If you want to see a #$itload more pics on this event, you can go to the Motoclassica 2015 thread on Aussie. Quite a few of us went and posted their pics, there are a few more, different Ferrari,as well as a full spectrum of other motoring interests. Two more men charged over theft of Ferraris worth more than $2m in Melbourne's south - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
Has it been determined why the cars were stolen, resale, to be parted out, a reprisal against the owner, or ? There were some stories in the news a few years ago, about wealthy people in some countries that could care less about having a title to a car. They would pay cash in hand, no questions asked, & receive the stolen exotic car. A lot of the cars were going(still?), to Mexico. Some years back, a friend had his 930 Turbo Porsche stolen in Missouri. By good luck the thief was caught, by law enforcement, in Texas, on the way to Mexico, had a "buyer", across the border, was going to give him $5000.00 , American dollars for the Porsche. Title not needed. A reminder, keep full coverage on our toys, and as values have gone up, do increase the replacement value amount!
Oh man. That is just awful. Poor guy. I'd be so stoked to own James Hunt's old Daytona! This poor guy must be beside himself.
I just discovered the story today, before the burned coupe was discovered. Was the missing one a Daytona Spyder? In case somebody was sending a message to Roger Waters, who he? $2.5 Million Worth Ferrari Daytona Once Owned by Roger Waters Burns to the Ground
