Hello, I have been enjoying reading all the different threads regarding the 458. One thing that I have been wondering is allocations and do some dealers get more cars or do they all get an even number, is it by geographic location and population density? How is it determined? The other thing I have noticed is that some dealers own multiple dealerships. Which also made me wonder does that mean that a dealer that owns more than one dealership can move his / her allocation amongst the locations? For example if a dealer owns two locations and location A sells more V-12 cars than V-8s and location B sells more V-8s than V-12s can the allocation or inventory be adjusted to satisfy the demand of the individual locations? It's based on a number of things. Ferrari of Austin just opened up but they are owned by Giuseppe Risi who also owns Ferrari of Houston. I was wondering if Mr. Risi got a certain number of cars that he was able to distribute between dealers as he sees fit. The answer was no. Each dealer gets a different number of cars based on several different things. I personally couldn't tell you exactly how they decide the number but I know is varies depending on several different factors.

The other thing that has crossed my mind during all the discussions regarding 458 and wait times for getting the opportunity to order one, is productions numbers. In the past Ferrari's model line had only three ( V-8, V-12 2+2, V-12 2 seater) with the occasional special car like the Enzo. As we all know the V-8s have been produced in higher numbers than the V-12s. Now that Ferrari has two V-8s. The California and now the 458. Has anyone heard what the production mix is going to be between the California and the 458? Is it expected that the 458 is going to be produced in similar numbers as the 360 and 430? Thanks again. One thing I have been wondering is that what happens when a dealer has a surplus building slot in his allocation, i.e. no customer for a car being build at a specific time? He doesn't need to buy a car for his inventory?! Can the dealer "sell" his slot to another dealer who may have many customers for that car? Or maybe the slot just expires?
Should dealers know their allocation by now? Like how many 458s they are getting for the 1st model year? It seems some dealers know and others say they do not know yet. Quite confusing...

Not sure what you mean or who you've dealt with at Wynn (in anyone!) But I've had nothing but great dealings with Wynn Ferrari. Now having said that, I have NOT dealt directly with the sales staff personally as I bought my car somewhere else but I do know people that have! As for service, I've had my car there many times and have nothing but a great experience every time (as do others) I went to the 458 release party last night and it was first class!!! Food, drinks and great people. I've read a few of your other posts about Wynn. Why so much hate? What dealings did you have? Have you even dealt with Wynn in the last few years (if at all) I think if you did you'd see things have changed (for the better) in the last few years!
