Can someone explain how the point system works? I'm in the market now for a 360 or 430 and am looking at several options. Is it always better to work with a "dealer" or does it matter? If I'm looking at a large purchase on the 430, should I work with a dealer in order to start accumulating "points" for my next purchase so I can get in at list...or does it matter?

    Thanks in advance!

If you want to buy 430 w/ particular spec based on your want, F dealer is the only option. You can buy already-built 430 from sources other than F dealers.

You can put a deposit w/ your local F dealer to buy new 430, but I hear most dealers are not accepting new orders for 430.

I only bought used F from the dealer before, and I didn't get any points to be on the waiting list for 430...

Each dealer has different policies. Our local dealer is first come, first served, although I believe when a list for popular models begins, their best customers probably get phone calls. Nevertheless, if you walk in, you can put a deposit down, but they had enough deposits for anticipated 430 production almost a year ago. Now they are taking deposits for the next model. Evidently, other dealers use 430 slots to reward long term or otherwise valuable customers. From reading on Fchat, I don't know if anyone has gotten on a 430 list lately with a deposit. Some have said the dealer will call when their name gets close, but without a deposit, there is no contract. I hope they get their cars. Edeally, you should have a chat with your local dealer(s) and get an idea if getting a new 430 is even possible anymore and how to get on a list for one, whether buying a used car would help, etc. If aftermarket prices fall to close to MSRP, some slots may open up. This is more likely to happen with coupes than spiders. The wait for a spider is much longer in most markets.

    Good luck,
    Dave
