No. I don't expect him to beat him at all. Kimi is past his prime. He's 32 points behind. Without a miracle, hes not going to catch him up in points this year so Ferrari is going to act accordingly regardless of how early it is in the season. I don't like it but it is what it is.
True I'd like to see Kimi beat Alonso. Matter of fact I'd like to see anyone on the grid beat Alonso. I'd like to see the cleaning lady beat Alonso. Whether they can or cant I'll live with. This year its Williams (like always) and Bottas for me.
Kimi was faster all weekend. It's barcelona indeed. I've asked the question several times but have had answer yet, so I'll ask you as well: Why did Ferrari turn up Alonso's ERS system (extra power) and not Kimi's during quali? The ERS is controlled by a computer so it wouldn't suddenly allow for extra current to flow through unless the technicians ask it to. It was a simple case of trying to get Alonso ahead of his teammate at his home GP with their biggest sponsor's (santander, a Spanish company) big boy (a Spanish man). didn't quite work that way so it had to be done on strategy. FYI, Kimi has been crashed into twice in those 4 races ahead of the Spanish gp which certainly didn't help him stay close.
One thing I never got was back in the day a lot of people criticized Kimi for his (supposed) lack of input in car development and were happy to be rid of him for this reason. However, I have not seen Ferrari produce a decent car since Fernando was brought on board but somehow that is all Ferraris fault and has nothing to do with the driver? I think it's time people realize that Fernando is a great driver but he might not be the best driver for the team......
Lotus meanwhile went forward and forward (until they ran out of money and no one wanted their IOU's anymore, lol).
I have yet to see Bas Jaski admit that Kimi has been beaten by Alonso fair and square. Even when Alonso trounced him by 50+ seconds in China, for example, there has always been some sort of excuse. I have no idea where you keep coming up with this myth from. Alonso was quicker for all 3 practice sessions before Kimi went a whole .036 faster in qualifying. I would wager that if Alonso wasn't held up by Kimi during the first two stints he may have achieved a top 5. Fernando has been faster than Kimi all year save for a couple qualifying sessions and it hasn't even really been close.
When ahead of Alonso early in the race Kimi was obviously driving on the ragged edge to maintain his lead. Had Alonso made a better start Kimi would have never kept up. I love Kimi and am encouraged that he's closed the gap but Alonso's still faster.
Same reason as you think, it's Barcelona. I wonder how much they turned it up, probably not too much, otherwise they would have gotten disqualified. It didn't seem to make a difference anyway. FYI, Kimi likely wouldn't have gotten crashed into if he hadn't qualified so badly.
So when Alonso is faster, you bend over backwards to come up with an excuse, or even a lame conspriracy theory. That is just pathetic if it wasn't slightly entertaining.
Both Brundle and James Allen imply that Alonso was favoured : Strike two to Hamilton as Merc keep it interesting and Ferrari keep Alonso happy | Features & Experts | Sky Sports Formula 1 Did Ferrari favour Alonso over Raikkonen? Shouldve kept reading. The article makes a lot of sense and make no mistake ferrari look very bad. All to continue to keep the resident premadonna happy and looking good. Really do not understand why ferrari love alonso so much. This italy/spain kinder spirits nonsense is so 1970s.
Correction to the used vs new hard tires thing. Tommi from SuomiF1 was nice enough to get back to me and said that Pirelli later informed that Kimi actually didnt have any new tires left. So that is why he went out on a used set. So it was a misunderstanding. Even though it doesnt erase the other parts of the travesty. There is no doubt that Kimi was pissed. The events that went down in Spain are more crucal than many people think: Retweeted Emilie (@Mimie_Iceman): "I didn't come here to be the second choice. You should explain me this ****" ‪#‎Räikkönen‬ (French TV broadcast this team radio excerpt after the race)
So being crashed into twice is a lame excuse? Turning up the power and being asked by the FIA in writing is a lame conspiracy theory these days. Brundle, James Allen and many, many others all agree that Alonso is being favoured, but simply because I'm a Kimi fan when I state it I'm delusional. Take of your own blinders for a change and use your eyes.
Who cares? Neither Alonso nor Kimi have any chance of winning anything, so who cares??? This is just noise and a complete side issue to the main problems which, fundamentally, are to do with the entire top management of the team being utterly and completely useless.
