Thank you Mark! I do not have any MR-models, too modern, I am only collect classics and a few modern racers. Most of them are BBR, CMC , V12 and a few others, but only Ferrari. And I am building model-kits or rebuilding damaged models. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm very old school, 99.5% of my cars are all diecast, no resin for me but I do appreciate them Cut my teeth on Bburgo, then Minichamps, up to Exoto and CMC and finally back to Bburgo for the latest modern 1/18 F1 Ferrari's. So many model cars, so little shelf space

Some real stunners in your collection Pedro. 1/43 or 1/18 ? ....hard to identify. What brands do you have there?
These are all 1/18. BBR, Looksmart, GMP, CMC, Tecn9omodel, Kyosho, Mattel Elite,Maxima and a Chinese Brand i can't remenber the name...but does great models....
Always a pleasure to watch your colection John....so well displayed. Is that frame in front of the window a cmc GTO disasembled?
Funny thing is that if you look at the first display "box", the models have a lot of space between them, especialy the ones from the 50s, but they have grown so big that the new ones are almost without space in between!
You cabinets are full of wonderfull models Marshall...you have so many 166, and i have been searching for ne for years, but for some reason, nobody want's to make a decent one in 1/18 (i wanted the LM winner)!!! I've almost given up and decided to buy a plain "mattel elite ".
Thank you Pedro, but this was a yellow version and I do not like yellow at all. You cannot find a yellow Ferrari in my collection. So I removed the yellow paint from all the bodyparts, polished the bare metal and painted it with clear paint. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You're a very brave man to take apart such an expensive model and display it like that!!! But i confess the result is amazing! congrats on your courage and skill!
Clearly this thread is full of model nerds - and not saying (out loud) that I'd like to join the club, but... What would be a recommendation on a *quality* F430 Spider model as a start? Kevin
This thread is amazing . I think I wanna become a model nerd Any recommendations on who makes the best diecast ?
I believe you have 2 options de the mattel elite and the bbr. The first is a die-cast fully open a lot cheaper. ...i belive the bbr is also a diecast.
Diecast, fully open models, you have some very good ones. Currently, it's probably cmc....not the most acurate when it comes to the lines of the actual car, but for sure the most detailed. Exoto has some amazing models, all out of production but can be found on ebay and other places. Bbr has some very good diecast, the 512bb lm is probanly the best one, amazing model for the money, and also the 375+. The f430 is also a very good model. Yoy also have gmp and kyosho, the later famous For the 250 gto, best bang fot the buck in the buisness...they will telease it again...at double the price. I slso like their daytonas. Mattel elite is a budget option but a very solid one. The 250 swb is very nice, so is the 410sa, and the modern ferraris.
Keep in mind alot of the models shown are resin sealed models and not diecasts. They are more accurate and are hand built to a higher standard with only engines showing and sometimes no opening panels. They look great and a few more dollars, but you get what you pay for. BBR resin type models are expensive and addictive, like little hand made jewels. You all have been warned
That display was available to purchase through CMC. This what it looked like before John stripped it down to bare metal. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My pick is Exoto as the best overall manufacturer of diecast but it really depends on what models you want to collect. Many are now discontinued and to be honest I'm not even 100% sure they are still in business so would have to be purchased on the second hand market. My next pick is CMC. Some say the quality has slipped a bit in recent years but my latest purchase (shown below) the 275 GTB/c is a stunning model with excellent levels of detail. New model's are released slowly and they don't have a huge range of Ferrari models overall but what they do release is exceptional. Beyond that I think you need to go to resin models like BBR, MR Collection etc for a much larger range of vehicles and options. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Last week I updated my model room. I managed to free up shelve space for more models! I already ordered the green 250 GT Lusso by KK-Scale. My old set up for gaming (still Forza Motorsport 4 on the old Xbox360) took too much space, so I replaced it with a 40cm wide Ikea Billy book case. The monitor is now attached to a wall mount arm. The book case now mainly holds my DVD collection. old set up: Image Unavailable, Please Login New set up: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I als bought a 80cm wide IKEA Billt book case for all my miscellaneous stuff, as well as a few WWII vehicles (all 1;18 scale). Image Unavailable, Please Login
