yes, thank you, I enjoyed that. However, in this clip they said the engine was designed by Fiat. Everything I've read says the V6 engine was designed by Ferrari, but only manufactured by Fiat. Comments anyone?
In the Car and Driver video, the words were "Fiat manufactured V-6." According to my Dino books, the engine block was cast by Fiat, and Fiat made or sourced many of the related parts, but the engines for the 246 were assembled by Ferrari at the factory in Maranello. Ian Webb's book, "Ferrari Dino 206GT, 246GT & GTS," shows a crankshaft being machined and engines being assembled at Ferrari on pages 41 and 42. The Car and Driver video also states "but in and among those fluid body lines there is not a single Ferrari badge to be found." Perhaps that is technically true if you mean a badge with the Cavallino Rampante, but if they mean there is no other Ferrari badging or identification "in" or on the car, Car and Driver is simply wrong. The manufacturer's plate says Ferrari on my 246GTS as do other labels and tags in the engine bay..... Still, nice to see and hear one being driven. Mark
