Police are looking for the driver of a black Cadillac SUV that rear-ended an exotic sports car on Saturday night, and then proceeded to rob the driver and his passenger at the side of the road while they exchanged insurance information.

The incident occurred around 9:50 p.m. in the eastbound lane of Highway 91 near the Knight Street Bridge off-ramp.

The victim's car, a Sliver 2000 Ferrari 360, was bumped from behind by the Cadillac. Both cars then pulled over to the side of the road to exchange information and the driver of the Ferrari check his vehicle for damage.

That's when the robber-described as a Caucasian male who stood five foot eight, was in his mid 20s with a husky build and very short blond hair-pulled out a silver handgun and said: "Give me your watch and your wallet."

The robber then went to the passenger side of the Ferrari and told the woman inside to hand over her purse and the keys to the car.

The robber then got back into the Cadillac and drove off, eastbound on Highway 91.

The victims described the Cadillac as a new model, possibly with tinted windows.

It was probably a STS, CTS or Escalade. Probably rollin' on twenty-fo's with hydros' full of gangstas', yo.

That's sad to hear. I hope they catch the crook and smash his car.

In Vancouver (ok - Richmond, but still) - that sucks!

Don't think the CTS and STS qualify as a SUV quite yet.

note to self: don't drive a 360 in Richmond?

The victim's car in another paper is described as a red 308. Anyways, it is sad to hear that.

i got those spam mail the other day and it reads:

"The following is an account of true story taken place in Richmond BC, in the last few days. I thought this incident can remind and warn us for similar occurrence in future. The "victim" had related her story to a friend, and I got this from her friend's friend's friend:

    " Dear Friends,

You hear of highway robbery? it happened to us last night, we finished dinner at Richmond around 9.30pm. on Alderbridge, heading Knight street bridge, we were driving fast, suddenly somebody rear ended us, a noise but not too big a compact, automatically Tony stopped the car, he went out, ( I heard of highway robbery, I was very uncomfortable, so I took the cell phone out of my purse),Tony opened my door, said,"no damage,I just need the insurance paper," the man followed him, squeezed himself in ,I saw him with a very tiny silver gun, he said "your wallet, I am going to blow your head off" I was very scared, my hand shook with the phone, tried to hide it from him, he then said" what are you doing?" I just moved a bit and sat on my phone, then he said "your purse" we did what he told us, he went away with our wallet and purse, both watches and the car key.

We were in the wrong place at the wrong time, still lucky, we are save and unhurt, I still have a phone and police came very fast, it is a very frightening experience, we stayed in the police station, giving out statement , canceling all the credit cards, the worst thing is we have the driver license, the house keys, so right away have Kevin changed all the locks at home , the car tolled to Ernie's house and not mine, as he has my car key and knew where we live .

He is a white, young , heavily build man, may be in his early twenties, he drove a black new SUV (may be a stolen car)

I am sending it to you all , alert you it did happened and it is so close to us, Richmond, a very busy highway, not too late at night.

It did happened to my friend's daughter with her boyfriend once when they were driving back from Seattle, on the high way, a car chasing them ,rear ended them ,they knew it's something wrong, so they just drove faster and got out of it,( may be two three years ago)

I hope this will not happen to you all but just keep in mind things like this really happened.

    Helena "

Whether true or not that's the Florida bump and rob tactic used on rental cars.
