Ferrari Enzo crash in Malibu

The only positive in this whole episode is that the bastard driving that car didn't kill anybody.

 

just heard these on the news, the "passenger" says the driver's name is Detrick.... also the passenger has alochol blood level of 1.09% or something like that, its above the legal limit

Going even further, I've heard a story about a guy who kept a bottle of Vodka in his glove compartment.. gets pulled over late at night and downs it before they can take him in for a breathalyzer. Cops write down "drank bottle of Vodka while stopped" and then his BAC in the report. Not suprisingly, he walked.

 

I'm happy for him, make an accident at 200mph and just a few blood from his lips is a miracle.

Strange that Enzo and Carrera GT in accident often broke in two pieces.

While it's pretty clear Nick doesn't own an Enzo, I'm not sure why you would say he's a cheap bastard. He seemed like he was just trying to be fiscally responsible with someone who didn't know the concept. Remember Jess. has just started making big bucks. Further, he doesn't depend on his daddy for everything. He has an appreciation for Ferraris and Breitlings. The guy is all right in my book.....

I do think if this guy who was the passenger turns out to be the driver, he might be able to claim a head injury caused his lack of accuracy in his statement to the police. Was this person checked out by doctors before a statement was made?

Watching the local news here in a LA at 2:00, they report that the Enzo and Mercedes owners were at a party in Beverly Hills and decided to go race on PCH. The rest is history. Girl passenger in the Enzo blew a .09.

 

The passenger is also the registered owner (and only person found at scene) and his name is Stefan Erikson, a Sweedish national who lives in Bel Air/Beverly Hills.

He hasn't been charged. He claims he was the passenger and that a guy named "Deitrich" (sp?) was the driver and he fled the scene. "Deitrich" is a German fellow and that's all he knows about him. It was either a witness or Erikson that said that they were racing an Mercedes/McClaren SLR when suddenly the car became airborne.

I'm told that Stefan did allegedly blow beyond legal limit, but he claims he wasn't driving. Sheriff awaiting results from blood test (driver's airbag had blood on it).

Speed is estimated at 120 mph.

NO---Ferrari SPA may have the ability to download the CDR--if it has one, but the police do not have that capability. And trust me you don't just yank the box out of the car.

 

Airborne at 120mph? I have had bugs hit me in the forehead, but to get airborne at that speed? in an Enzo? how about 170 +.....

Maybe there wasn't actually anyone else in the car? You would know who was driving your car, and the odds of two people not being hurt in a crash like that...or at least too stunned to be able to run away are slim.

One a sad note, a local high school girl, (honor student, cheerleader, homecoming queen) was killed here in Little Rock a few weeks ago. Her SUV simply veered off the highway and crashed in a ditch. The medical examiners report indicated a blood alcohol content of .282, along with the presence of cocaine. Her bright future ended on a dark stretch of highway after a night of partying.

 

I know the owner of those cars. hope it wasnt him.
