Recently I have seen a video of Ferrari Enzo driven by a tester of "TOP GEAR".
I have heard the sound of his engine; I think it's quite similar to the 512S sport prototype of 1970.
What do you think about it?

    It's difficult to tell.

During Concorso Italiano, I had the chance to hear several Enzos rolling around town including one at Laguna Seca race track during the Historics. For a super car, it is suprisingly.... quiet. (until you really get on it)

It has a wierd startup sequence sound. Most cars do a quick (short) sweep of the RPM band before settling down. The Enzo just sits at the same RPM after the starter motor. It sounds very intense and persistent.

    Exactly.

There's no "turning over" of the engine, it seems... Once you hit that button, it just immediately starts idling, like it was never really off at all...

Damn, i love that car... :)

I am a big fan of the F50 startup. The starter sounds like a supercharger :)

You should try it from the cabin at around 5,500 to 7,000 rpm - sounds like a tyrannasaurus rex on crack. One afternoon of motoring I'm not going to forget in a hurry....

As Carbon explained in his link , the noise is sudden , totally unexpected. Its as if you were teasing your monster and then BAM..suddenly he growls back at you.

I stood behind one as it revved at the Italian Exotic Car show in Memphis, in June 04.

It's a very different sound from a Ferrari v8, while also being noticably distinct from a Lamborgini V12. It's very guttural, certainly raspy, and above all -- MEAN! No way is it a "sweet" engine sound like a 355 -- very powerful and raw.

At this car show called Crystal Cove, my dad and I were standing behind an Enzo. When he started it up, we said that sounds quite for being a supercar. But then he revved it up, just once, and I jumped a little, and my ear's almost popped. That shut us up. :) The sound on that car is just incredible.
