I don’t see Ferrari doing this, it makes no since because an F1 engine would be unusable at the low RPM level of street driving…

    Ferrari Enzo with F1 actuation

The most beautiful Test-Car in the world

From the boulevard to the racetrack: The Ferrari Enzo turns by command of the F1-Section trial-rounds with a V8-engine in the back end.

Rare Picture: An Enzo, not on the high class boulevard, but on the racetrack. Which prominent person has brought out his limited car out of the air conditioned garage? None, this Ferrari is on the way in a superior mission: Behind the driver you won’t find the powerful 660 horse power V12-Engine, but what you will find is a V8-Race-engine, which should help Michael Schumacher to win the next season. Well, this might be the most beautiful F1-Test-Car…

Could this be a way for them to get extra track time on the engine without having to break out the whole F1 team for a test? Seems to me that would not be a bad idea, especially since the dyno testing is not as valuable as actually driving it. Could be totally wrong but just trying to think what reason could they have for doing this.

Considering Ferrari designs and builds both cars and the motors, I would say it's not a big deal at all for them to drop the F1 motor into an enzo.

It´s a big deal cause the chassis of the enzo isn´t for engines rom f1.
f1 engines are a part of the chassis ( f50 too)

I'm well aware of that, but who says they have to mount the F1 engine that way? If they are just doing engine testing put some mounts on it and away you go.

It wouldn't be a super simple swap but far from difficult for the engineers who design cars like that. Think outside the box, and don't over engineer things. People swap sport bike motors into small cars all the time, and they are a structural part of the chassi as well.

Now to swap an enzo motor into an F1 car would be extremely difficult as the motor was not designed for the structural loads.

A F1 engine lasts for only 800 km... Then you have to change it.
That "mule" remembers the one Ferrari used for the FXX superexotic car...

It IS the mule for the FXX. I`ve seen it in Fiorano testing in May.
Also, fitting a F1 engine to the FXX is a HUGE deal, and the rear axle should look different.
For me it is just the FXX mule, nothing else.
    Regards.

    Ok Techie discussion will commence.

Do tell why it would be such a HUGE deal to drop a different engine/trans in an enzo platform? And "because it's from an F1 car" is not an acceptable answer.

From what I have seen on the enzo/fxx the engine/transaxle are not a structural part of the chassis. In simple terms putting an F1 engine/trans in would require using motor plates (to retain the origional mouting structure) and then adapting those to the enzo frame. To say it would be hard for the guys who DESIGNED AND BUILT the enzo to swap motors is just silly.

Just because it's from an F1 car doesn't make it some magical bit that would never function out of that specifica car.

It would be MUCH harder to change the engine type in something like an F50 where it is a structural part of the car.

Sheesh, you guys need to get out and wrench on your cars more. Swaping a tiny V8 would be much easier that what some of the hotrod guys are doing.

It is not just a matter of mountings.
There are lots more things to have in mind.

    1. Air feeding to the engine.
    2. Cooling the engine.
    3. Height of the engine transaxle
    4. Wheel size change gear ratios, etc.

And, having a bunch of F1 cars, why fit it to a road car?
    Sounds nonsense.
But! If anybody can show a picture of such a thing I will beg for pardon.

    Enough.
