I thought I read on here that there is a 2009 Challenge event or something on that order at Road America. Does anyone know if/when this will be, I want to book reservations this week? Thanks everyone!

That'll be right after by birthday, but right around the time we are expecting a baby to be born! Not likely I'd be able to go

    Nice! Hey guys.

The Challenge races are always funny. I'll probably try to make it. I'll most likely ride my bicycle up, but as it gets closer I'll see if there's a caravan or something.

We're still 6 months away. I may try to make it, never been up to Elkhart. Actually, the only race I've ever been to is in Sycamore, on the dirt track. Time will tell

That would be off of I-294 not 94. About a block west of the highway on the south side of Ogden.

I called road america this morning and was told they were not sure this event was going to be open to the public despite it having been open to the public three years ago when the event last took place. I really hope it is not a private event.

Would I have to join the FCA? I'm not an owner so it serves me little purpose to join outside of being able to attend this event. I have already booked my room at the Osthoff for that weekend.

Argh! I don't want to join either, since I'm not an owner. Anyone in the area want to say I'm with them? Or would that not work? You can call it my b-day present, since my b-day is June 23. I'd probably have to make it a 1day trip too. Too early to tell, but since my wife and I are expecting a baby any time around that day, due date is June 27.

My wife and I and my folks are booked to go the weekend of the FCA Meet. We haven't made plans yet for the Challenge Weekend. May Also book the ALMS weekend as that's my favorite race Road America hosts annually.

You need to be a FCA member if you want to participate with your car in the FCA Nationals event at Road America. However if you want to just watch the event as a spectator you won't need to be a member.

Also since the Challenge event was mentioned: There are several Ferrari related events at Road America every summer. Only the FCA Nationals would require membership. Historics and other racing series obviously don't.

PS: The FCA membership fee is a relatively small obstacle to the room rate of the Osthoff or even the participation fees of the Nationals event. That shouldn't be the reason not to participate.

I'm not looking to participate with my car, I'm only going to watch the beautiful Ferraris! I'm sure some interesting cars will turn out. Can't wait for summer this weather sucks!

It's a good time. When I last went (maybe 2006?) all you needed was a ticket. Also the first time I got behind the wheel of a Maserati :) But walking around everyone seemed pretty friendly and was an overall enjoyable experience.

I went in 2006 as well (took over 300 pics), so I was a bit dissapointed to hear that it might be closed to the public, but why would it right? If we want to go see these cars the way they were meant to be seen I think Ferrari USA would be more than happy to oblige. It may have been that they dont have all the details yet from Ferrari USA about the event as they said they would not post the event for sale until after February.

When I went in 2006 I had a wonderful time, me and my fiance had a picnic on the grounds right on the exit/entry into the pits...it was awesome to see the Lusso's and GTO's come in and go...one of the owners of a 1963 GTO was gracious enough to ask my now wife to sit in the car...too bad he didnt ask me :-(.

I will be going for the 3 day event and have already booked my room (will go regardless if it is open to the public or not) Elkhart Lake is a wonderful place for a nice getaway!
