there is a Ferrari F-1 car on ebay---cool
412 T2 F1 Car http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6212&item=4543464811&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
Was considering a bid when the car was at 180k, Now at 400k which is even past my sell-your-soul -at-180k, point. Whats the price on a soul in need of restoration ?
I was surprised to see such a "car" on ebay. I wonder what the ramifications of Ferrari's Clienti program are. They mention it briefly in the ebay description for support, but I always thought that once you buy a F1 through the Clienti program your hands are a lot more tied than "just" getting support. Maybe this car was never part of the Clienti program, but only really uses it for support? Or are the chains of the Clienti program gone once you resell the car to a 2nd buyer? Not that I had the financial means to participate in this, but the whole Clienti deal always left me with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. I mean if I plunk down that much money, I would like to do whatever the heck I wanted to do with the friggin car. As it stands you're more like the temporary custodian of the car. Not a bad thing from a historian's perspective, but not necessarily from an owner's one.
Anyone that is thinking about seriously putting a bid in for the car and actually owning it should first contact Ferrari Corse Clienti. Please do this even before contacting the car company that is selling the 1995 Ferrari 412 T2.
