I was at the Tuesday Morning store yesterday, and they have three of these sets priced at $49.99. If anyone is interested I can go snag one--I don't know much about the sets, but they look pretty cool. From what I can tell they usually sell for about $80.

Interesting, thanks for the offer. Did you get one for yourself? It looks a little too "5 year old hotwheels track" with that loop in the picture. :D

I didn't pick one up--we trying to pare down as it is, and my son's still too young to play with it. The cars look pretty decent close up (there's a window panel on the box that lets you see them. The loops are a little corny, but I was curious if anyone has used one of these sets before. I haven't played with slot cars in 20 years when a college bar had slot car racing night. I have no idea what's good and what's garbage.

Carrera is one of the finest slot car manufacturers. I'm guessing they're doing a blowout sale because these are not digital, which is now the new standard. Still cool.

I gave up on my slot car set a long time ago, but kept some of the cars just because they're so detailed. And they are Carrera. :)

My son and I built a slot car track in our basement. It's pretty huge, so we can have some good races. The track is a Scalextric digital setup. The digital part is nice because you can change lanes at certain portions of the track. The cars have gotten really detailed as well. I swear the squad is there for security, he's not running radar!! :) You'll have to excuse the pics, they're from my Iphone!

Neil, what size is that track? I've wanted to do that for a while, but decided to do that with HO trains instead. The slotcars I have are all from the 80s and don't work, or are later 90s LifeLike

The base is 12' long and it's about 8' wide or so.

Nice, my trains are on an 8x8 base, with a 2x4 section cut out to access the center

You can walk around the entire track. I bought an extending pinchers to reach the parts you can reach. We've got a trip lined up for Al's Hobby Shop in Elmhurst next week. I better start hoping for overtime to pay for it!
