Have been asked by a few to do this so here you go. This is using our cheep shipping scale but it seems to be pretty accurate. We put a 15lb barbell on the scale to check accuracy and it was 15lbs dead on. All 3 wheel types have the exact same specs as far as bolt pattern, diameter, widths, and offsets.

    Specs 20” wheels 5 X 114.3 mm bolt pattern
    Front wheels 9.5J X 20 ET 48.4 mm, Rear wheels 11.5J X 20 ET 71.6 mm.

First the standard F12 wheels by Speedline Italy (gray)
    Front wheels 29.5 lbs each
    Rear wheels 33 lbs each

Next the factory optional 5 spoke forged wheels by OZ Italy (black)
    Front wheels 25 lbs each
    Rear wheels 27 lbs each

Finally the optional forged wheels by Super Alloys of Taiwan (silver)
    Front wheels 22 lbs each
    Rear wheels 24.5 lbs each

So if you were to switch from the first standard Speedline wheels to the last Super Alloys forged wheels you would loose 32lbs of unsprung weight. That my friends is HUGE! You can expect better steering, braking and acceleration.

Chris- That is a whole lot of unsprung weight difference. Plus it is rotating unsprung mass, which affects handling even more.

That's significant. According to a friend of mine who's a race car driver, a pound saved on a wheel is like 6 pounds saved in the car.

    Yes, have the lightest ones.

How much would light aftermarket ones weigh in standard size?

Great description. Thnx. Other than swapping out a whole bunch of CF (which can get hugely expensive) I don't know if u can achieve such dramatic weight loss any other way (Suggestions from the forum perhaps?). I personally like option 3 but was thinking of getting mine powder coated in a gloss black.....

Discussed that in the aftermarket thread not long agon.

Lightweight battery can save some 45lbs IIRC.

Yep, building a 911 track car that should be in at 2000 lbs. This is the battery I'm running. Wouldn't be goold for you guys as you have allot of electronics and systems to run.My car is gutted and only needs to start, LOL, but you get the point.

32lbs of unsprung weight is a big deal, especially in the wheels (rotating mass).

Makes the decision to stick with the forged wheels easier. I was still considering the speedlines...but too much weight.

458 Speciale, Speciale Aperta 488 GTB and the third type of optional wheel of F12 monitored wheels are supplied by SuperAlloy. I also choose SuperAlloy' wheel on my F12.

I am really amazed that the optional forged wheels are the lightest. I chose these when I specified my car, but always thought I would switch to the 5 spoke as I thought they were lighter.

Thanks so much for weighing all these wheels. It is hard to believe the difference!!

Am I the only person here that is disappointed that Ferrari get their most expensive F12 wheel option made in Taiwan? I'm not questioning the quality but surely they could get a good quality wheel made in Italy or Europe?

Well… I can't believe you save that much weight from the different options. Great information.

A bit but its a global market. Saving weight is a great idea but factory wheels should be selected primarily based on how well they finish off the appearance of the car. Just as important as the paint IMO. If they save weight that's great and I do thank the OP for taking the time to document the choices for us. Mine, of course, are the heaviest but look the best on the car!

Does anyone have any weight numbers of Pirelli vs Michelin tires also?

And/or the wheel weight for FF wheels?

I did change for lighter wheels on one of my previous cars, and the improvement was substantially - wonder if it might be worth the same on my FF (yes I know this thread is about F12 - but it is after all close enough)?

SupperAlloy, with factory located in Taiwan, not only supplies forged wheels directly to Ferrari, but also to JLR, Bentley, Porsche, BMW, Benz AMG, Tesla, Toyota, Chrysler, GM, and Honda. Although there are several forged wheel suppliers in Europe, why these major automakers include SuperAlloy into their supply chain, although the wheel factory location is far from these automakers and is not easy for logistic management? Obviously SuperAlloy is good at products quality/Safety and Performance (light weight). Please do not underestimate the professional competence of the engineering department of these world leading automakers.

The wheels supplied to Ferrari include 458 Speciale, Speciale Aperta, F12 and 488. By the way, the wheel of McLaren P1 was also supplied by SuperAlloy.

I hope that those who has stereotypical impression to SuperAlloy can change your mindset to learn that SuperAlloy is outstanding in forging technology. It produces not only forged wheels, but also some chassis parts to JLR and Bently.

I know these details because I have been one of SuperAlloy board members for over a decade.

Thanks Roland ! I would imagine Europe is not competitive cost wise for the same spec/quality forged wheel.

Wow Roland thanks for the reply! For what its worth, very unscientific, I also think your F12 wheels are the best looking of the bunch!

The other company that makes a great product is App Tech of Italy. They make the F430 Scuderia 16M wheels which is a beautiful lightweight 19" wheel. They also produce the Aventador forged wheels (20/21"). I think they make a few other Ferrari wheels as well but cant think of which ones right this second.
