Interesting looking exhaust headers. What are the bolted on extensions at the front of the intake plenums? -F
gmast827 : I don't think the engine is all carbon... My guess is that it is going to be an extra$$$ option... furmano : That was my exact thought when I first saw the engine... What is it ? I don'w know if it has been posted already, check out the video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=gZ18G_I0WUk AWESOME !!!
The bolted extensions on the intake covers are called "resonators" which apparently help maximize cylinder filling...don't really understand the science behind it, but would like to.
went to the show yesterday to see the f12. gotta say.....i like it. its not the most beautiful shape ever but it has a mean and purposeful look to it. those hood side vents will take some getting used to, but i guess they work. the rear end looks slightly unfinished, but it works too. overall it looks much better in the flesh than in the pictures. but i still wont be buying one. waaaaay too much money.
Anybody took more detailed photo of the trunk space? I am especially interested to find out whether you can fit two golf bags in there. Thanks.
I dunno if you have ever seen a 2 stroke quad.. I had a friend that used to race yamaha banshee's way back in the day. He built one of his race engines and had a "boost" bottle on the back of the intake which was just extra air for the engine to draw in as it got up higher in the rev range. I could be way off base here but I think they may serve the same function. Extra air available as needed or like you said maximizing positive intake pressure of cold air.
Check on the official F12 site (under Discover-> Powertrain) for the explanation and video animation on how this "booster" resonator works on the intake... http://www.f12berlinetta.com/#/en/discover/powertrain Talk about optimizing the performance and going for perfection !!!
