    Hey all,

I have recently started helping a close friend look for his first Ferrari and he has shown high interest in a 1997 Ferrari F355 Spyder we found for sale in Indiana. The current owner has all service records including an engine out service in 2018 , about 1,000 miles ago. The car has 52,313 miles on it and it is currently residing with it's 6th owner of 5 years. Cosmetically, the vehicle appears to be fantastic but the owner noted three issues with the vehicle.

    1. The A/C is not currently operational; the current owner states it needs only a charge
    2. The heater controls can act unusual according to the current owner
    3. A quarter size drip of oil will will appear on the ground after the vehicle has been driven.

I am just wondering if these issues are something that should be of minor/moderate/major concern. I know often times A/C units need more than "just a charge" and while these issues seem minor, I want to ensure my friend and I can understand the current issues and the time and cost of fixing the said issues. Any information, direction to sources, tips, and opinions are greatly appreciated.

The quarter size drip after a drive is probably minor, but you should at least find out where it is coming from and decide.
The heater control is a pretty well known fault of the HVAC unit, it has a mind of its own and a power reset "may" bring it back today, tomorrow or six months from now.
The AC could be just a recharge ($100), or a new compressor ($500) but unlikely to be more than that.

The more substantial issue is whether the auto top works at all, some, or really well.

AC probably needs a charge because the system has a leak. So charging will only be a temporary fix. Will need to diagnose and find the leak. Could be inexpensive fix...or...
If you think the car is worth considering, have it inspected by a Ferrari specialist, who can give it a more thorough look see.

I appreciate all the advice everyone. We are currently working with the seller and are going to try and see if we can make a deal this week or so. Photos to come if everything goes well with any inspections and negotiations :)
