I'm trying to find information/pictures about the 1987 Frankfurt Motor Show when Ferrari unveiled the F40 and they stated that it was the first production car above 200 mph. Also, does anyone have the Quattroruote article or verification documents of the 202 mph run they achieved?

    Thanks.

I don't know about how official it was, but I was at Texas World Speedway (outside of College Station - home of Texas A&M and about 1+ hours north of Houston) when Max Papis was clocked at 205 mph on the straight away. I had ridden in the car just prior to that and going into turn one scared the sh*t out of me and that was a good 20+ mph's off that speed. The owner of the F40 was also an instructor and could give rides

The F40 had been mildly modified, but this was around 1998 or so, if I remember correctly. It was truely amazing to ride in and then see that speed......

Someone should know more details than I have provided, I wish I had more.....

Around that same time, I sat in a P4 (depending on car) that was either 0844, or what I know think was 0858), took pictures and lost them (in Phoenix at Grand Touring Classics, I had the good fortune of being in a Bondurant school with Harley Cluxton IV). It was the coolest thing, but how does one lose pictures and not remember the SPECIFICS????? I wish I much more appreciative then as I am today about these experiences...

I thought the only modifications on that F40 was a Tubi straight-through exhaust?

I can enquire about that as my mechanic I still use was responsible for that car. At the time, he had 7 F40's at his Houston shop. I do remember the brake rotors being destroyed after that weekend. I don't know what all other mod's had been made, all I know is it was fun watching. I don't know to what extent it was modified.

I have never seen the owner of that car post or his name posted, which is why I have posted. Feel free to p.m. me to confirm names, but I am sure you know what I am speaking of, it wasn't a big secret, I was just glad to be there, even though I didn't realize the fact a camera would have provided all kinds of fodder for us today.
