On my previous 360 and 430 I had the ecu's reflashed by a tuning company in Europe, I usually Fedex my ECUs over to Italy to have the tunes completed. This time for my new F430 I want to have the software completed domestically, preferably locally so I don't have to deal with the logistics. I am in Corona Del Mar, CA. Does anyone know anyone local in the Orange County, Los Angeles or San Diego that I can approach to have this completed?

I'm not sure he needs to now. I went by their office to discuss having them tune my car and they are no longer there and have no forwarding business address. From what I gathered from the guys that are there now they have gone out of business.

Anyway I spoke with Alex down @ Superlative Autosport in Newport Beach, CA last week and they really, really seem to know their stuff and after speaking with them I am more than happy to leave the software remapping for my car in their capable hands. I am out of town at the moment on business but I am going to be scheduling an appointment with them as soon as I return.

I haven't been on Fchat for a while now, possibly because i've been too busy enjoying my new software?! LOL I wish, I have driven the F a lot since I had the car reprogrammed but work has had me in 4 different states over the last month. Anyway, so I finally pulled the trigger a few of weeks ago and had the performance ecu software reprogrammed on my vehicle. After weighing up all the options I went with Superlative Autosport and to be completely honest I don't regret it one bit! They ended up putting down an extra 22.4hp on a DynoJet chassis dynamometer (my car is completely stock and I run 91CA fuel), which doesn't seem like much but the difference is extremely apparent. The car is seriously a lot faster than before and is much, much more fun to drive. The software has gave the car a lot more power throughout the rev's in all gears and now it pulls like a steam train, I thought the F430 threw me and my passengers back in our seats before, but now....WOW! The car throttle is more aggressive now, but it is still extremely smooth, just more responsive I guess. I have had absolutely no issues with the car since the programming and can recommend having your ECU's tuned to anyone on the fence about having this mod done. Just go with a company that knows their stuff and you'll be fine. If you are in SoCal then I can't fault Superlative Autosport so I would go there, excellent service and the guys there are great to work with. In fact if you don't mind pulling your ECU's out yourself they can even be shipped over to them and they next day Fedex them back. I didn't feel comfortable doing this myself but after watching Alex remove the ECU's it seems very easy or I guess you could get your service center to remove them for you.

The only problem is once you pop you can't stop! Now i've had the software done i'm really thinking about an exhaust system for the car, but Christmas is coming which always blows my bank balance away. Perhaps Santa Claus might leave a system in my stocking? LOL we can dream can't we?

Not even remotely credible IME (experience not on an F-car). Very responsive/pushy in the beginning then completely blew me off once I started asking technical questions. Their dyno graphs appeared to be complete fabrications by marketing in Excel. I am very familiar with dynos of my P-car, for example the peaks and dips when the resonance valves switch or when the VarioCam kicks-in, and none of the characteristic shapes/curves were present in their "dyno results".

joe name, that would have to be one heck of a big stocking!!! Don't forget new air boxes and BMC filters. Very inexpensive upgrade that should work well with the new ecu. Good luck and please keep updated on the long term ecu mods.

Interesting feedback, thanks! Has Superlative Autosport been transparent with you by communicating precisely which maps, parameters and new values have been changed in your ECU's? It would be even more interesting to know how your car has been tuned ;)

They ruined their reputation in the M3 world with stunts that would put Korean Soap Operas to shame.

I noticed no one mentioned FabSpeed. I know they aren't local but what are the thoughts on these guys? I like the way that they say they can do a component by component tune without sending the car in. By this I mean they supposedly can select that you have say a Tubi exhaust, and whoever's headers and the say high flow cats and the tuning is supposed to be configured for those components. Thoughts?

Hi Joe - what tuning company in Europe did you use for your previous 2 cars? Was it somebody known to you - I know I would worry about sending off ECUs to a foreign country - and have the car undrivable in the meantime. Curious to know who you used, and how was your experience.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Jim,

We do our tuning in conjunction with Evolution Motorsports who are very well known and highly regarded. We have also seen some very big gains on 430s. As long as we have list of all modifications and fuel type, no dyno testing is needed. Which muffler you have has little to do with tuning, but the headers and cats (or test pipes) will play a larger role in the ECU tune. If you do remove your cats, we are able to desensitize the rear lambda sensor (which reads cat efficiency), so you will not get a CEL. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

It's going to be one hell of a list to Santa! LOL. I actually spoke to them about filters as well, its another mod i will doing in the not too distant future seems mine are going to need replacing soon anyway. Still enjoying the tune and no issues have occurred, very happy with the product and service from this company.

The company has been reasonably open with me regarding discussions on the maps altered however they have not told me about the calculated values they've adjust to but I never asked. Some of the software details are probably kept secret as its intellectual property i'm guessing.

Yeah those guys have a similar software database of maps for different fuels, exhaust set-ups, no CEL etc, they can also do a custom tune if requested by the customer. My vehicle is stock so I didn't have anything special done, but i'm still very happy. The 430 is a lot more fun now, definitely a nice refreshing boost of power from the F.
