    if you want your vette to sound like a Ferrari.... change the crankshaft to the flat plane configuration.

    well blame Ferrari for adding GPF to USA destination F8 cars instead of making a more aggressive sounding car for the North American market...

    No those are early factory cars with L4 special reg plates just for journalists to drive. They will be sold later but not now.

    Drove the F8 today and am very relieved with the sound issue. Autocar describes it best. Having owned the 458 and 488, the 458 was the best while the 488 was less but still acceptable. While others have stated, outside is quieter but inside the hot tube system saves the day. I encourage all to test for yourself as it's quite enjoyable and worth your time.

    On all accounts to date it appears the hot tube has provided an acceptable sound solution for inside the car but sadly on the outside it's a bit of a mouse. Hard to argue that. The hot tube must make up for the valves being closed most of the time which is the case now unless the throttle is being worked hard. Autocar is on the money I would say. The 488 did have that annoying drone along with a very on off interior sound as and when the valves opened up suddenly.

    The Pista would be more like the F8 where the valves open up on idle and only when the engine is being worked hard enough but during other times the engine really can't be heard a great deal on the inside so the hot tube has been provided as some form of solution during the times when the valves are shut so there is at least some level of sound going on inside the cabin. The outside sound is a different story for F8 though and a rather sad one really whereas Pista doesn't share that same problem thankfully - as in at least when Pistas valves open up it sounds proper.

    I don't know if i would say that. Pista sounds exceptional for a turbo and it's most certainly loud enough when it opens up no argument there. If you hear it in the flesh it's much better than what you hear in the sound vids. It's unmistakably Ferrari. Now, is it better sounding than a Gt3rs at 9000? Hmm. That's so tough to answer as they are both so equally satisfying in their own individual ways. So it comes down to preference (sound being a subjective element). I recently heard the Ferrari turbo and atmo engine being described as having two different bands and having someone say Phil Collins sounds better than David Bowie. Sound is so subjective especially at this level of quality. The atmo definitely has a higher pitched scream to it but under the redline threshold - which isn't reached most of the time anyway - there isnt anything dramatically special about it that could be fairly said to sound better than a Pista turbo, whereas OTOH the turbo sounds amazing no matter the revs. So yeah it's a tough call nowadays. I'm finding it much easier to not be too critical now.

    There is nothing controversial or even debatable about an NA Ferrari engine sound versus the modern (GPF'd) turbo. To think otherwise is not being honest with yourself really. One screams to 9k and other needs a hot tube to even hear it most of the time. In most of the videos the turbo whine is more dominant than the Ferrari ICE exhaust.

    I'd agree the F8 turbo has been fully GP f'd, no question. A very sad situation particularly as there's no fix. It has good looks and an F car badge to rely upon but most enthusiasts know sound is a big part of the overall special event sports car equation. As a DD there are far better and cheaper alternatives.

    Both exceptional in their own individual ways....and both can be heard coming from a distance!
    The GT2 is surprisingly very loud and sounds very menacing, considerably more than the 3rs around town even though it has a JCR pipe. But when the 3rs opens up it explodes! Pista sounds great with that unmistakable Ferrari howl - love the Ferrari!! With the valves held open the Pista sounds nearly as menacing as the 2rs in traffic. To say which is the better is a very tough call as they all shine brightly in their own ways. I will say thankfully they can all be easily heard and accordingly command a certain respect when travelling amongst other cars.
