    Who invited THIS guy?

First off, they have ALWAYS depreciated a certain amount, even the special series a bit. I DON"T believe the Pista will depreciate below MSRP because that is the track record (pardon the pun) of these cars from Ferrari. The Speciale didn't , the 16M didn't, the Scud did for a while and then recovered and the CS is MSRP +100K now. No arguing with past performance Motorwerks no matter how bad you want one.

As to the "regular" Ferraris, yes they will depreciate as all normal production ones did.

The McLaren have been atrocious for depreciation and Lamborghinis not much better (with the exception of the older ones of course).

As to values falling precipitously due to "high production", I have been hearing that crap for 15 years now and it never seems to materialize. Remember, with China opening up there are a LOT MORE BUYERS NOW. So any ramp up in production will most likely get sucked up by that market alone.

Are you asking if one can tell the difference between a 2.6s 0-60 vs. a 3.0s one? I would say that many people can absolutely tell the difference. The difference between my 488 to 60 vs. my 991.2 GT3 to 60 is about 1/2 second apart and absolutely there's a damn bit a difference between the two.

Agreed. 1/2 second difference is huge.

Take this with a grain of salt as I haven't driven the Pista or the F8 but I would venture to guess that the Pista is going to be the more hardcore, engaging visceral version of the two. I think F8 will be similar to 488 in in terms of sound and engagement but with obviously more power.

Obviously until someone actually gets wheel time in the cars, all this is just nonsensical pontification.

They will all depreciate over time even the Pista not that it should matter especially if you drive it. I do believe it may bounce back up in the long term though. The spider version will do better than the coupe if you look at the Scud vs. 16M. 16M is more than 2x the value today. Ferraris, Lambos and Macs all depreciate about the same regardless of what you want to believe. Ferrari's special (F40, F50, La Ferrari, etc) or LE models definitely do better than the special Mac and Lambos though. I also believe the economy will have a greater effect on the values of these cars in the next couple years. There will be some good buying opportunities coming soon.

    Agree!

But sadly the 488 and Pista show us this won’t be true.

Drop it a bit and stiffen it up to reduce roll. Make it sportier vs. GT like. I would even consider installing some lighter wheels.

Actually, realzeus was the one who insulted people first. Being old enough does not automatically equate being docile or having a free pass. And being young enough does not equate being impulsive either. Calling him out should not be considered offensive when it is initiated by the recipient of his attack.

Have a nice day. I am off my soap box.

0.5 seconds difference between 4 and 3.5 in 0 to 60 feels diametrically different to the 0.5 seconds between 3.5 to 3.0, let alone 3.0 to 2.5. It is mainly because of the torque and gear ratio at play, much less about the HP at all. But anyway, I am not a straight line performance guy, but just saying.

Depreciation is part of the game.
What I’m curious about it the base price. 300k would be too high in my opinion.
F8 will be a great car. I’m sure about this. But can’t cost 20% more than 488 cause, finally, it is a FL of a car that was a FL of 458.
I’ve loved both the cars and there’s a chance I’ll love this one also. But at 300k I’ll look somewhere else. IMHO

It's not about the time difference. It's about the torque difference that account for the time difference. And the difference is not proportional. This is why it is extremely hard to make a car faster from 3 sec to 2.6 seconds than from 4 to 3.6 sec.

Trust me, your back can feel the torque difference.

I think it is fair to say the following after reading 30 pages:

The F8 looks reception is somewhat polarized among us, i.e. those who already have self-selected in this cohort. The target audience of F8 may not be primarily us, so our opinions may not matter as much at this stage.

The market will decide the fate of Ferrari overall who has to answer to the board and investors. A few of us are concerned about product cycles, from the experiences of Mcl and Apple.

Ferrari is in a critical transitional period as it finally becomes a publicly traded company for the first time in 70 years since inception. As long as cars sell, it will be all okay from short term business stand point. Mind you, but Ferrari is not what it is today because their cars sell, but because what it means on many aspects of our life and society.

So we will soon find out how right we all are today in 5 years after reviweing the sales of these 15 cars that keep rolling out before 2022. The future of Ferrari I hope is bright and exciting, but gotta mean a lot more than just another company that pumps out great cars as well, like Lambo or McL. Since almost all of us grew up having a Ferrari poster in the bedroom. This explains the passionated heat of the conversations in these 30 pages.

    My 2 cents.

Completely disagree with the build quality/reliability comparison. I'm at the coalface here minutes from the factory. Know employees, lots of owners, past owners, a few who rejected cars, seen lots of 720 at meets, trackdays and events and spoken to many owners over the years. Seen all the comments and cries for help on many of the forums too. The build quality and reliability (mainly electrical) niggles means that the car is just nowhere near Ferrrai levels and in the opinion of many who I have encountered, not befitting of a £250k product. I am sure that you have had a great single experience and for sure, there are many who can say the same but over a wider sample size the same cannot be said.

Overall though, looks like we kind of agree in a sense. You scored both cars with equal points and just to reiterate it's an older car. Shows that all this talk of Ferrari playing catch up is nonsese when their older cars can rival a newer designed Mclaren and beat it in key areas.

The biggest problem with the 720 though which is outside the scope of tech spec. comparisons and driver notes, but is in fact just as important to a prospective owner if not more important, is the brand's market dynamics and the ownership and aftersales experience. Sounds like maybe things are better in the US but in the UK you have collosal depreciation, a constricted dealer network and unacceptable servicing/repair wait times. Getting out of a car can be very painful as the used market demand is threadbare and there is way too much oversupply on the new cars with too many cut price deals and shady under the counter stuff going on.

Mclaren are building their brand fast but in way which cheapens it and renders it precarious. The technology is class leading as is the design but the reliability and quality control needs to improve dramatically as does the balancing act of price/supply/demand.
