Cool, thanks for that. Is there room for the stripe to go under, through the S duct (similar to the Pista design) or does the front of the car not really allow for that?
Compared to PISTA it has only a thin lip in front. The rest is carbon (optional). So I suppose similar stripes to PISTA are possible but the front part would be limited. The question is whether is 'appropriate' to add stripes to the more 'civilized' and GT oriented version (F8) of the original (PISTA). The answer is subjective. At MSRP maybe but it is regularly beaten or Matched by the 720s...which is cheaper. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My friend just bought a fully stock 2019 720s with all options, 290k Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Same spec or close to My friend and he paid I believe 285-290 but his was more like 330 sticker. Good deal at mclaren Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So 330 Msrp is the bare minimum for 720. It’s the basic most essential must have options. “Well equipped” 720s are in the 350-360 range. A fully loaded F8 should come in around 335k or so. Obviously there will no discounts on the F8 and the 720s are discounted somewhat- Pista will be hard to get below 400k if you get the desirable options and exterior carbon. All great cars just different.

What’s interesting and to be noted though is that in that same link the 720s wins the index. What’s even more interesting is that the 720s is not the special edition of the 720, the 720LT is coming up and will face the pista in that segment . As much as I think the pista is a prettier car it’s a lot more expensive too. I’d get the Ferrari any day of course but that price difference is hard to overlook for me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Keep in mind those who can afford to buy a Pista can easily afford a 720. As some have found, there is a lot more to a car than just worrying about the splitting of hairs over numbers produced around a circuit. On today's scale, over here you could buy 2 virtually brand new loaded 720's for the price of a Pista.....but those with a Pista are not even interested in the slightest. Much the same applies to those lining up for an F8 - not interested in 720 even at half the money. And speaking of values/value for money in relativity to the performance numbers, which is essentially what you are alluding to, a Ferrari is actually worth something (even on a bad day) vs a 720 which essentially (and unfortunately) isn't worth a cracker the moment you roll it off the shop floor.
Very true! McLaren does do a good job at customer service: my friend who bought the 720s already had a 458 and relationship with the selling dealer but not nearly enough to get the car he wanted as fast as he wanted. McLaren doesn’t have that appeal yet, imo, so they bend over backwards to get customers desires met, maybe more than Ferrari. Personal opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No question they (mac) will bend over backwards to get you into one - customer service is great...no question about that! I'm still in their sights. From what I've seen going on I don't really care about 720lt, when it's released or how much faster it is. I'd take an F8 any day of the week over it even if I can only get half my money back after 2 years. At least I know I will be able to get out of it, and, with half my money. I'll leave the bar room numbers talk for those who buy 720/lt......they will need that to hang on to.....because there won't be much else from what I can see going on. I'm not sure why some keep bringing it up....
The index is an aggregate of all values. The 720 posts quicker acceleration times higher up in the speed range, ostensibly due to its lower drag. The same lower drag comes to bite it on a circuit, where the Pista is quicker. The price argument is totally personal. I find that the Ferrari name and the performance warrant such a price.
