These shots of the Ferrari Factory are from October 1989. I took a tour with the dealer out of Munich called "Sport und Tourenwagen". The neat thing here was that the guard at the gate allowed us to park inside the factory itself.

Also..in another thread, people were talking about the last 328 made. The picture of a distant 328 was a U.S. GTS. The tour guide (for whatever they know...) told me that it was the "last" 328 made. I've since lost the serial #.

This tour was incedible as the F40 was in full scale production. If anyone has the book "Inside Ferrari"...those pictures must have been taken within a month or 2 of my visit...based on part shortages and other things..

Nice pics. In the 6th picture (with the 2 white cars), there is a tower in the background with the Ferrari name on the sides of the top, any idea what that tower is?

    Yes, thanks for posting!

    regarding the 328s..

Are they your groups cars with the plates?

Interesting to see they all appear to have colour coded spoilers.

Wow! good catch Greg, I hadn't noticed. How rare were color matched spoliers? Can't recall ever seeing one.

I recall that one. i think I saved every pic from that thread. Kind of neat to think my euro might actually be one of the ones in one of those pics.

All the 328s with painted spoilers were all private cars from Munich. They were all painted afterwards. The funny thing is as soon as one person did it and headed off to the monthly Stammtisch, others saw...then others wanted theirs painted too....samething happened with Testarossas and "Sport Auspuffs" (Exhausts).

Correct. One is a 1989 if I remember right. Interestingly I bought a 328 in Munich a few months after this tour when I sold my white Testarossa (pictured in my post). It was a late 1988 car with the 1989 type wheels but w/o ABS.

My boss at the time had ordered and purchased three brand new Ferraris. An F40, a 412, and one of the last 328GTBs made. I flew with him and his financial guy to Bologna in 1989 to take delivery of the cars and drive them to Switzerland. I thought for sure I was going to be driving the 328GTB being the low man on the totem pole.
To my surprise I was given the F40 to drive? It was one of the first ten delivered and neither colleague wanted to potentially be the first guy to wreck an F40! I was a complete and total nervous wreck during the entire drive. Onlookers kept swirving into my lane trying to check out the car.
Seeing the factory was great and your pictures bring back fabulous memories.

Well, if it's any consolation, the first guy to wreck an F40 in the US got quite a story out of it. I joke with him about it to this day, and while this individual is one of the most genuine and congenial guys ever, you can tell that he's still embarrassed by the incident. And, for those that may not know the story, I'll just say that the car wasn't his.
