    Hi all,

I imagine there is a ton of information on this subject available in the archives, but I am located overseas right now (in France) with a horrible internet connection, so searching is not really an option for me.

I have these simple questions. I will be in Bologna Monday 3 August. Bologna is only about an hour from Maranello, but I am wondering if the factory will be closed. Will the factory be closed? Can anyone advise me as to how I can find out?

Also, assuming that the factory *is closed,* can anyone please recommend to me what I might do anyway in Maranello and/or Modena for the afternoon?

If the factory **is open,** can anyone advise me as to whether I might be able to get a tour, and how?

    Thanks in advance!

The factory is likely closed in August. Tours have to be arranged through FNA or your dealer well in advance of the tour date.
There are however several options for factory visits in the area. Lambo have a wonderful free museum and a paid tour of the factory.
Pagani is literally a walk-up situation in an industrial park. Ring the front doorbell and they will let in you in. It's tiny, with a small showroom, an assembly area and CF autoclave.
Maserati in Modena also have the ability to arrive and tour. August is a difficult month in Italy 'though, as most places close or have very limited operations.

MS is testing in a borrowed Corse Clienti car today in Mugello. News reports also claim he has special dispensation to test in the F60 as well. Maybe on Monday he will be charging around Fiorano!

I can answer that, having just done it a couple of months ago...have a nice long lunch at Cavallino including a bottle of the local Lambrusco. Take a nap. Get up and have a great dinner at Montana.

The Cavallino is *right* across the street from the factory, and the galleria is open during August (only a block or two away)

The Galleria museum around the corner from the factory should be open and is certainly worth a visit.
There are easily found spots around Fiorino to watch whatever is out on the track.

After you get tired of Maranello head over to Modena and spend some time. If all of the above doesn't sound too exciting then maybe reschedule for a time when the factory is open. Check with your dealer to set it up.

P.S. - I'd still go as you may see MS ripping around Fiorano or who know's what?

I agree, if the Galleria is open go there for sure. Also, if you have the time, drive up into the hills outside maranello. Some of these (the manager of The Planet hotel can tell you which ones) were used by the factory for test drives.
