I was wondering if anyone knows the ins and outs pertaining to getting new replacement parts from vendors that sell Ferrari parts? A few years ago I was looking for two seat recliner handles for my 355 spider, and was finding out that they were pretty much NLA. After a lot of searching I was finally able to find them. Now I see that they are offered by a couple of vendors that previously did not have them, and makes me wonder if
Ferrari waits until there is a lot of demand before having their supplier make more. I know from past experience that when GM put "discontinued" in their parts catalog, it was forever.

About ten years ago the fob sets for 355/360 etc suddenly reappeared in dealers - except the red was black - so basically yes your observation is correct even if the demand criteria is pretty random ie just because there's a huge demand doesn't mean they'll make it - another possibility is that someone outside the network decides to remanufacture the part - very very rarely this might even get picked up by Ferrari themselves

Yes, my understanding is they do runs and have some preferred vendors who get dibs of sorts or can buy a bulk of a run before they're made available to the general network
