Funny how the description on the cable guide reads "...visits *a* Ferrari factory..." - like how many Ferrari factories are there the world??
It shows again on Sunday according to their web site. 10P Assembly Required Ferrari [TV-G] Also airs: Friday, November 10 Sunday, November 12
Guys, is this on satellite also? As to the time 9/10 pm, what time does it show in the midwest?! I don't think I have seen NGC as I flip through my stations...PS. I have direct TV. Found it 10pm, ch 276... Thanks!
Actually there are 2 one in Maranello and the old Scaglietti plant in Modena.... which has been Ferrari for quite some time...
Charles, Thanks for the personal call to remind that the program was on! I very much appreciate it. Also can you pvt me your address so I can send you the check I owe you for Robeling road..... thought I had your address, but dont... Tom
Nooooo! NGC is channel 109 here in Nashville, so you have to have digital cable to get it, which I don't have. I hope someone puts it on Youtube. -John
You-tube someone please!!!! Those of us who dont have the National Geographic station are suffering! jon in delaware
I watched it.... THANKS Charles for the tip! The shots inside the factory and showing all the hand made custom sand casting for the engine parts was pretty amazing. No doubt the current Ferrari production techniques are just jaw dropping. But.... every time they delved into discussing Ferraris history and cut to clips of vintage black and white racing film.... the film was NOT of a Ferrari! It drove me crazy! They start to talk about Ferraris strong racing history and all the wins in F1 and LeMans back in the day.... and the video image is of a COOPER F1 car and a Jaguar D-Type at LeMans! The idiots didnt even bother to get clips of vintage Ferraris to use when discussing.... uhhhhh.... vintage Ferraris! To be fair the show spent very little time on this and really wasnt about Ferrari history but just the current factory and the 599GTB, but this little goof really was pretty pathetic. Terry
Very cool show, but noticed some interesting stuff: 1) Ferrari powdercoats their primer on?! Didn't know that. 2) I didn't see any gaskets used in the assembly of that motor, just lots of goop Thoughts? Watching a show like this really makes you appreciate the ferrari you own. It really is amazing to be part of the brotherhood. You also begin to understand the price, and why its is really rather reasonable...
For those in Nashville, it is on sat. tv. I couldn't get it on cable either and it is on like 238 on direct tv. The program is impressive. I was at the factory and I like this show better. In the flesh , no view of the paint shop. Watch a movie in the theatre for 15 minutes, then final assembly line, then the leather shop and the engine plant, then it's over. You do get to look at the new finished cars at the very end for 10 or 15 minutes. How about the part where they turned over the 599 to treat it for rust and put a positive charge in the metal before priming. I liked that part. Remember when you buy a 12 cylinder only one mechanic start to finish. Not so on an 8.
notice they did not show the assembly area for the old cars either--with all the rolls of duct tape and boxes of glue. Wonder if i sent my 308 back to them for rebuild it would come back as a 599---hmmmmmm
I think $260K is money well spent on the 599 GTB considering what's involved building it. Anyone who says Ferraris are expensive needs to watch that program. Stephane
