After the cancellation of our scheduled 2020 Factory Tour, this past September 13th we finally got in for a full day tour. It happened to be a day that no one else was scheduled for this particular tour so my wife and I had the pleasure of our hostess Jessica and our minibus driver all to ourselves.

First, we took the minibus trip from Maranello to Modena to visit the Scaglietti facility where aluminium bodies are built; impressive lines for the 8 and the 12 cylinder cars. Crossed the lot to the Special Projects workshop to see a couple of Monzas in different stages of completion.

Hopped back onto our minibus to head toward Maranello for the Factory tour. On the way back we got a glimpse of what appeared to be a Purosangue in full typical Ferrari camouflage. It actually also happened to be the day that most Ferrari Big Shots were at the official reveal of the Purosangue somewhere in Tuscany (I think Florence or Pisa, can't remember).

Back at the factory we did a brief (and I mean brief) visit to the customization and design building; then we were whisked off to the Foundery. Incredible to be able to get so close to where the molten alloy is poured into the dies; so close that they asked us to stand back as they started pouring - Hot Stuff!!!

Lunch was interesting to say the least. We were expecting that we would end up at Cavallino - we had been there a few years earlier and would have loved to have eaten there again. Instead, we were escorted to a private reception area above the main factory cafeteria. We were greeted by a very attentive host who offered us choices from a variety of wines as an aperitivo and snacks... ..."would you like to try another wine?" ... ..."please, sit, relax, let me know when you are ready for lunch". We waited 10-15 minutes to be polite and then summoned him for our meal. Primo, secondo, insalata e dolce - Good, better, and better yet. I'm still trying to figure out how they catered a meal for 2, but, trust me, I'm not complaining; I could do this every day!!!

I'm ready for a nap, but no, off we go to visit the paint shop: We had to don white protective overalls just to enter this facility and marvel at the various stages of dips, flips and sprays that are required to get the color onto the cars.

Finally, off to the assembly plant, where all the parts come together to make your dream Ferrari.

There's no doubt that, as proud as we are to own and drive these cars, the people who make them are - rightfully so - even prouder. Their passion and the pride shows in their dedication.

A big GRAZIE to Ferrari, Ferrari Lake Forest and our fabulous hostess Jessica for a superb experience!

As for the photo: sorry the photo is of the security cover that was placed on our phone so we couldn't take any photos.
