I am heading to Italy this summer and am interested in the factory tour. Not the 15 euro bus thing, but the real tour. I read that you must own a Ferrari (I own a 308 & F430) to take the tour, has anyone done this ?
How do you set it up ?
    Thanks

Contact your local dealer asap. I went in 2005 with 2 wks notice and couldn't get in. took a sad picture at the gate. In the rain.

"Search" is your friend: lots of threads here on visiting the factory in Maranello.

I did the tour last October. I registered my s/n on the Ferrari Corp site, emailed Maranello PR who told me I had to communicate through "my" local Dealership. I found one, phoned, got emailed a form, filled it out and, eventually got an invitation emailed from Ferrari USA in New Jersey.

Do this well in advance; give them a range of dates you can visit, indicate which languages you would like the tour in, etc.

It was quite cool: if you are going there, it is worthwhile.

Back in 2009 when we went it's so much simpler to arrange the trip.
1st, I contacted FNA and told them that I wanted to tour the factory.
2nd, lady I spoke to said no problem, you just need to show proof of Ferrari ownership.
3rd, I emailed them the copy of my pink slip/tittle to FNA and they approved it.
4th, they ask what date i would like to go then they contacted Maranello to notify them that we are coming on the date we requested.
5th, got a letter from FNA saying that our requested tour is set and that Maranello has my name on their list and looking forward to seeing us.
6th, We got to Maranello, stayed at the Planet Hotel top corner floor. Next day we walked to the gate gave our confirmation letter from FNA and our name, and sure enough my name is on the list and went on the tour. After the tour we went to the Museum of Ferrari and the Fiorano test track then ate at the Cavallino Ristorante across the street where some of the Marsnello factory workers goes for lunch. I really recommend the tour highly as it's one of a kind factory. I,m planning on going back in the near future.
Best of luck on your tour Chuck, I know you'll have a great time.

Contact your dealer ASAP. My wife and I went last October and had a blast. They cover your camera phone with a sticker, so no photos allowed. We went inside so many of the buildings and were right there on the assembly line! I was actually impressed with how much was still done by hand. I was also surprised at the 50 or 60 488 brand new painted bodies that were sitting in the rain waiting to be assembled.

The regular tour is only in a bus and on the outside of the buildings. Lame.

I was there this past September, it's awesome.

I wasn't keen on Planet hotel though. The location is great but the rooms need a serious renovation.

I was there last April and going back this October.Thought the Planet was very nice, great view of the factory with a balcony.Sat on the balcony every morning with a cup of coffee and gazed at the factory.....what a way to start the day!!!!!
The Enzo museum in Modena is fantastic! Staying at the Planet this October but planning on spending more time in Modena this time around. To me,the whole area is Heaven on Earth!

I'm not sure how to link an old thread, but if you search for the thread title below, you'll see pics I took in 1981. Things were a lot different back then.

May I suggest the moderators make a sticky of the basic info for this:
    1. Yes, you need to be an owner, but you can also take along a partner or friend.
    2. The tour needs to be booked through your local dealer.
    3. You need to book well in advance, especially in the summer. There are only 2 tours per day, max around 32 people so if you can give a wider time frame, you have more chance of getting a spot.
    4. The factory is closed for virtually all of August.
