If you have reset the car ( disconnected the battery) then you are to go though a sequence of lockiing and unlocking the doors and popping the hatch with the FOB once you power the car back up. I found that it needs to be done or you will not be getting into the hatch. How do you open it manually?

I apologize if anyone saw a similar post from me earlier. I cannot find it, and it might fit better here.

I have 2012 FF. Everything seems fine -- sits on a tender, gas cap opens, not dash lights -- but the hatch won't open. When I use the fob or hit the interior button, it makes all of its "I'm opening" noises. The hatch pops and goes up about an inch. Then it changes its mind and slams shut. I tried the cycling of locking and unlocking -- no luck.

Any thoughts? Do I try disconnecting the battery?

I often have the same issue upon start up from winter storage. I push the fob and help the hatch up. once it has gone to full open I shut it with the button under the hatch and it works fine from there on.

Interesting, @asphaltca! I tried that only once, but the hatch seemed determined to close, and I was nervous about forcing it. I'll go give it a shot and see what happens.

Okay, here is my report: I tested it to make sure the problem was still there. It was. I hit the fob again to attempt to lift it. It closed with such force that I almost lost some fingers! Angry now, I tried again and wrestled it into submission. It opened. I closed it with the button, and used the fob two more times to open it. No problem at all now!

    I owe you one, @asphaltca.

    Quick update for the community:

When the car was at the dealer yesterday for service, they said the hatch wasn't working again. They wanted an incredible amount of money to diagnose it, but I refused with confidence. We fixed this before.

Got it home, hit the button, and it behaved the way it had in the past. I wrestled it up, but it only went up halfway. I repeated that a few times -- and then the plastic bracket that attached the left arm to the car exploded!

    A new project for me...

Put the key in the door lock and manually lock and unlock the door. That should reset the system.
