I hope the tailpipes on the FF are fully functional.
The four tailpipes on the California (at least the US ones) don't connect to the end of the pipes underneath the car.

The car looks much better in the video than in the pics and I have no doubt it will look even better in real life.

Every time a new Ferrari comes out, its always the same thing. Lets wait to see the car in real life picture and actually see it in real life.

When the first pics of the 599 came out, people were comparing it Corvette and Viper but in reality, it looks nothing like those cars.

I agree. There's some really interesting muscular sheet metal work in the hood that's completely impossible to see in the photo's.

The Ferrari press release photos are ALWAYS bad. They over photoshop everything, take out all the reflections and highlights, and never photograph it in a real world enviroment. Why they do this every time I do not know. But, the car I think will really turn heads when people see it up close.

I woke up early this morning, about 3 AM PST, and out of habit checked my E-mail and news of the 2012 Ferrari FF was just released. As I have media access -- I downloaded the materials and wrote up my report, all before the sun rose.

While there's only three views released, I think it looks great. Can't wait to see what the interior looks like.

Discussing it with friends later in the morning, some said they thought it looked like a grown up BMW Z3 coupe but I just don't see it that way. Just because a sports car has a long roof doesn't mean they have to look the same. The proportions of the FF are totally different, as is the relationship of the greenhouse to the body.

I think it looks stunning but I know others will disagree with me.

Sorry, fug ugly. Doesn't deserve the Badge.

    Enzo would have a fit..

    2 tonnes kerb weight.
    4wd levian
    hatchback!
    people carrier
    not sexy

This product more befits a BMW or VW, not a Ferrai..

I agree, it's pretty clear the CA and FF were intended to share a design theme.

    ...like EVERY Ferrari, right?

I'm still undecided about this. It's one thing to see it in the flesh but I guess the overall impression of this car depends on the color. Red is obviously not the best color...as well as yellow. But the blue (TdF?) one in the video looks stunning. Darker colors, like black, blue or shades of gray will look stunning.

    Cheers, Jens

Roommate: THAT is a Ferrari? Beat it with the ugly stick didn't they?

Me: No, they laid the ugly stick on the ground and dropped the car on it from orbit.

Take note boys, as ugly as you may consider this car, the performance specs and over all capabilities this thing has makes it a force to be reckoned with in the segment.

Considering everything in this car, it should take the crown for best GT and keep it for a considerable time. Questionable looks or not.

Lines don't flow, proportions are wrong. 4wd? Why? They have a great reputation as an enthusiasts car, and building fabulous touring cars. This is a car they don't need, and will likely be an orphan. Maybe they are planning on a FWD car too...

Some people will buy them because they have a prancing horse and status symbols matter, but I would be surprised if it sells well with core Ferrari buyers, and I would be very surprised if it holds value.

Too bad, this looks like a desperate move. If they wanted to build a 4wd/AWD car, they should have built something that put people on notice, i.e. A mid engine performance car. Maybe the next Enzo....

Is performance everything? I dont think so. Not in the real world.

I'm sure from a techincal perspective its quick but it like marrying the ugly girl because she has nice shoes. Still fails, if not technically, emotionally a dead duck.

My first thought was nod to breadvan, as I'm sure it was with others. However, I am surprised it wasn't mentioned until post 103, as you were apparently the first person to mention that variant. As it is not "attractive", one can only hope the legroom affords as much wiggle room as the height does, given many an Aston 2+2 clearly does not, as they clearly put form before function.

Not right, I think. In metric units it's 1,38m tall. An E-Class is 1,47m. The E class is much more higher...

By the way, did you notice the weird rear "bar" diffusor? At first glance, I thought of something like this to make it even more useful as a daily driver for the whole family (go to 41 sec.)

But you wouldn't marry an ugly girl. Just like I'm confident you wont buy it. :)
Honestly, I'm a rear-engine guy myself and I'm in love with the single-nut wheels on your car, but I'm holding out on a verdict until I get my hands on one.

I'm sorry guys but this is NOT ugly.

You may not like the concept but if you can call this ugly, then I think we aren't even in the same universe.

    Hate concept
    Hate weight
    Hate side profile
    Hate tailpipes
    Hate the roofline
Hate the rip of of BMW Z4
    Hate the bangle styling
Hate the Lotus style rear (looks cheap)
    Hate the hatchback
Hate the clear designed by committee outcome

    I could go on... positives

Erm, well I quite like having 4 seat cars in the range, v12 is good too, would even live with 4wd on 4 seater. Sure its quick (even for 2 tonnes)

I could go on on but I forgot the plus points again when I thought about the ugly styling. Its hideous, even for a Hyundai!

    ugly adj. , -lier , -liest . Displeasing to the eye; unsightly. Repulsive or offensive;

I'd say it fits the definition pretty well! :)

Agree. I found another, more reliable source, for the height of a MB E-Class sedan.
Turns out the MB E Sedan is 56.3 inches high (not the 54.0 inches I said earlier).

I quite like it from a looks perspective, similar to how I quite like the looks of the 612 - I LOVE my 612, its an awesome car, but its not a superb looker in a bunch of ways. I'm seeing this car in the flesh on 2/2, so I'll reserve judgement.

Not sure if anyone else wondered what aniline leather was: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aniline_leather

Leather that has a special dye process to make it look natural. Semi-aniline has a clearcoat on it to protect it.

I'm very interested to see the 6 new colors.
