Yep, it is indeed the unfortunate marriage of a BMW Z3 with a Panamera. There is one design success, however. If you watch the video on the web site, you wll see the test mule. And, Ferrari has finally achieved a design where the finished car looks exactly like the test mule !!!!

PS- The photo in post #151 shows just how hideous this thing is from the rear 3/4. Just like in the Panamera, they ruined the rear of the car to fit two tall people in the back. I'd rather they had done an SUV, to be honest.

I'm sure Luca di Montezemolo would prefer it if the shields on the new cars said SdM instead of SF. :p

He seems to have a track record for bashing whatever achievements the company made before he took the helm and very much wants to be seen as a visionary that's saving Ferrari from its own apathy. I recall a couple of Italian FerrariChatters saying in other threads that they think he's just full of hot air and pretty much try to ignore whatever he says with his own mouth or through the press releases of the company.

Personally, I find it bizarre that the boss of a company with a heritage as illustrious as Ferrari would disparage that history at all, let alone with such frequently.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Spent some time at our Ferrari dealer this morning..amazingly most people/owners seemed to like the idea and styling of the FF however how many would buy one was another question entirely. The market for this car is small so perhaps Ferrari reckoned they could take more a risk with the design, too much of a risk in my opinion.

At least the hardware does give us something to smile about...motor sounds good in the video..

It looks like a 612 and a 458 Italia had a child, but not a good looking one. I think Ferrari could do better, but that's just my opinion.

Well it seems that no matter what else has changed Ferrari still raises the passions.
If nothing else they've managed to create a design that everyone is dying to see in person.

Too bad everyone is asking "Can it really be that ugly?"

Yes, this "new, bold direction" Ferrari is taking is sure illuminating the beautiful cars of the past. Beautiful 308 you have.

No they aren't. I Like it. But then again I have a strong predisposition to like all things shooting brake.

    Wow such negativity.
This is what I like -
the hood looks great look at the curves around the wheels, I can not wait to see this in person. I also love the look of the grill (reminds me of some 50's and 60's F cars). The lights do look like the 458 (that is the only thing that looks like the 458, oh and it comes in red). The rear end light treatment look stunning. The breadvan, hatch back, shooting brake or whatever you want to call it has never been my favorite, but this is a case of form following function. It is a very interesting looking car and I can not wait to see it and guess what, I bet it will look nothing like a z3. After seeing this I can not wait to see the 599 replacement I bet it will be a stunner.

I agree - it's a very interesting idea and will probably do well due to the combination of technical innovation, performance, luxury and versatility (not to say utility ;) ).

LdM did mention that there could be a family of car based on the FF, so as sales slow down, you could probably expect a more "normal" coupe:

My apologies. Not everyone. But most it seems.
I'm reserving judgement knowing how unrepresentative past release photos have been.
It is a break (pun intended) from prior designs and a lot of the negative reactions my have a knee jerk component.

LOL!! They "ruined" it just to put people in the back. How awful!

Doesn't Luca know that all Ferrari's are supposed to be 2 seat sports cars? What the heck are the thinking?

Ferarri should stop worrying about who might actually buy this car and start worrying about the design police on Fchat!!

So long as the Fchat design police keep buying Ferrari tee shirts and coffee cups, all is right in the world. Again, it's all about finding a way to sell stuff. ;)

Here is my question, who is the target Market for this vehicle?
Did Ferrari feel there was a need/market for it?
I hope they will not follow Mercedes-Benz and Porsche by producing many different models just to increase production numbers. Just look at any steet corner and you will see some type of M-B, Bmw, and Porsche. I hope Ferrari will not water down the Ferrari Brand and Image!
