if you insist!! But seriously; To the best of my knowledge not every ferrari fire is a fatality but if it is maybe ferrari has some issues to deal with..

Spoke to my dealer about these fires and he said that the main cause was oil filters comming loose and not full leaks and as such Ferrari have sent out a service bulletien to the dealers regarding loose oil filters.....

The guy in the video above was seriously burned, yes. I think there was a subsequent lawsuit by him, though I forget the specifics.

Yes, my post was sarcastic as I find this topic somewhat macabre and distasteful. If Rob thinks it's ok and you all want to post pictures of cars that have been wrecked and in which people might have been injured, feel free. I suppose I just fail to see where the interest lies.

I have seen many videos of Ferrari's catching fire upon impact. I also read where the fuel tank is inside the car's cabin, whereas Porsche puts the tank on the outside of the car's cabin. Is there any truth to this? Also, there does seem to be a disproportionate amount of car fires with Ferraris. Some will say it's because the car gets more attention since it's a Ferrari, but I'm not so sure. Can someone weigh-in on where the fuel tank is located in reference to the cabin.

Also, that first video is an old one, but that guy would have been dead if he weren't in a fire retardent suit, but then he was on the race track traveling very fast.

My god, cars arent supposed to blow up when they crash. Did he not see the yellow flag and try and slow down. This seems to be a major problem that Ferrari needs to fix now.

I have never seen this before. Wow. That is the worst track support I have ever seen. It seems like they could care less about the injured drivers. Unbelievable. Who are these people?

For what it's worth, I think that this fire was caused by the fuel in the Porsche's front fuel cell that, when crushed by the Ferrari hitting it, sprayed everywhere, filled the Ferrari's cabin, and ignited. I do not think that the ferrari's own fuel supply ignited.

That said, there are a lot of Ferrari fires posted on here that originated in the Ferrari, like the two Enzo fires in the last month or so.

    GET A FIRE SYSTEM !

    Forgot to mention it:
I drive a tow truck for a living, and I'm used to see all type of cars, explosed, burnt to the ground, wrecked around trees etc....
I once had to deliver a Porsche 911 Turbo who cought fire....
I know it's not a Ferrari, but these pic's allow the F-chat members who were neved involved in a car fire, how it looks seen from closely...
If you can't extinguish the fire within 1 or 2 minutes or so,let it burn down...
It will be nice when completely burn down, than only by half....
In fact,I have had @ least 4 Porsches,3 911's and 1 944,and there is somethin' that you just cannot discribe on a computer screen:the smell of a burnt car.....It really scares me!
    Ask Niki Lauda....LOL!

Make that 2 of us. If I want to see crashed or burnt Ferraris or exotics, I would visit wreckedexotics.com as speedman just mentioned.
I never visit that site. Seen 1 Ferrari crash, you have seen them all IMO.

could you tell us about how many videos is "many". also, could you give us some evidence supporting the "disproportionate" amount of ferrari fires? maybe some stats on percentage of ferraris that catch fire or something. lastly, could you give us more info on ferrari putting the the fuel tank in the passenger cabin. i know the fuel tank in my 328 is just under the driver's seat, but i'm not so sure about other models.

Maybe the lines run under the drivers seat, but the tanks are located in the rear on each side. 2 of them, I think they hold 11 gallons each

just to clarify my reason for posting this was to see if there is some kind of quantifiable trend relating to fires and ferraris. I, like a few others have said, seem to notice a lot of ferraris catching fire.

robbie, you know me better than that. i'm being sarcastic! ferrari doesn't mount gas tanks in the passenger compartment. And nobody here can prove ferraris catch fire any more than other cars. people just like to start stupid threads.
