i'm not a "cheer only when we're winning" type person, and Ferrari is "the F1 team" IMO.....but, putting on my flame suit now :D

we're only on to 2nd race of the season, but....is there any chance of Ferrari catching up McLaren this season??

things can change i know, but car evolution is slow with restricted testing now, etc, etc.

    what'da'ya all think??

Ferrari is two years behind the front runners and don't appear to be trying to catch up.

I voted "none" assuming you are talking about the constructor's....Massa sucks. Alonso is one of the best drivers on the grid but he can't do it alone.

Zipper and Hammy are a very strong lineup.

I hate to say but I doubt they have a chance. The new Mc and Red Bull cars will dominate yet again. This will be a more exciting season to watch than last year IMO.

Fred is the best driver on the grid & capable of getting an ordinary car into a position no one else can, but unfortunately the car isn't good enough to get into the lead & stay there. A podium is possible if the cards fall right, but a win sadly not a chance.

ps. happy to be proven wrong though :)

i hear you guys, IMO even MB could get into the fray shortly

my question could be either, constructors champ or drivers champ?

IMO the restricted testing slows during-season changes enough, that even the prominant teams are hard pressed to evolve quickly enough to close a gap, which takes some of the entertainment out of it

yes, i agree it looks to be a more exciting fight then last year :)

I thought this was "what is the chance that Ferrari will give up and work on next years car by the 4th race".

For them to challenge MC, they have to leap over 3 and maybe 4 other TEAMS. All these teams are also moving forward.

Will they improve? Yes. Enough to catch up? No freakin' way.

The car is light years behind the front runners. You could stuff Schumacher in his prime in the car and still have no chance at shaking and spraying the jumbo bottle of Mumms!!!!

I believe heads will begin to roll at the factory and Alonzo will be wearing different colors come next season. He is to good to be Rollin in a yugo!!

I would like to see Schumacher get a few podiums or a possible win this season. Great for the sport.

Just a question but does Ferrari have to hold up to their contract with Massa throughout '12 or can they break it some how. Aside from the car itself, he is a weak link.
I would hate to see Alonso leave Ferrari but he would probably dominate in this years MC or Red Bull, or hell even the HRT car.

You never know, the right race with Alonso, perhaps. Sad part of all of this is the waste of Alonso's best years. Since 2008 with Renault and the fact that IMHO he should have won the Championship in 2010 when Ferrari threw it away so stupidly by covering Webber (God knows why) as Vettel had become the driver to beat, it has not been in the cards for Fernando.

Zo has driven the wheels off his carriage. Without him Fer-r ee would be mid pack at best. In the end world champs or not Zo will go down as one of the best. Kubica will go down as one of the best that never was. It is a shame that these two friends could not become team mates.

Yes, they do. They have already found 3 tenths with some small upgrades since Australia. They have the best driver and they can do this. Never give up, FORZA FERRARI!

The car is a dog, there are some serious mechanical and aero issues. Alonso will always drag the maximum out of the machine. So far in 2012 he is the driver who has excelled, biggest shock is how bad Red Bull are looking!

^This. The Ferrari is a pile. It's the 5th quickest car on the grid on its best day. Rain is just a freak factor which changes things on occasion.

The rain alters things, but possibly hints at problems with this years car. Suspect the problems are all mechanical. In Alonso's hands the car behaved but on a drying track was slow.

This question should be answered after the big upgrade in Spain.

There´s a slim chance that the upgrade brings the car to the front, and even if it works, there will be a slim chance of closing the points gap they´ll have then.
