The Ferrari Owner's Site (www.ferrariowners.com) had removed the ability to request a heritage certificate a while ago. I asked about it and got a reply that they were changing the interface so it would be unavailable for a few weeks.

Today I noticed that a new option, Original Vehicle Colours, is available. This looks similar to the original heritage certificate, though the verbiage no longer specifies that the numbers of 'original mechanical units' match the originals when the car was built.

It is simpler to request. Only the chassis and engine (internal motor number) numbers are needed. So one no longer needs to disassemble the tunnel or use a mirror to get the transmission number. And for some cars where the transmission or differential have been replaced, this paperwork is now available. They have the same restriction, basically a carbureted car, for availability. However, the model drop-down contains injected cars, so there is an inconsistency. I don't have an injected Ferrari, so I couldn't try to see what would happen. Perhaps someone with a later model can try and post the results.

So I think that people were getting confused with the 'Heritage Certificate' and the newer Ferrari Classique Car Certification (that starts with a 500 Euro application), so they changed the heritage certificate to this new document.

I found out about this certificate reading this thread and jumped on it immediately.
Today I got an answer stating that my request had been approved and I could download the certificate. I did and the certficate is nice and official looking only ... just a blank space where interior colour and body colour is indicated.
Yes it is a very old car (1951: the date of manufacture is duly noted), but it was a disappointment nevertheless.
    Hope somebody has more luck.

Mine was also sent by Ferrari SPa. today - Dang that is fast!

Especially compared to the mid 1980s when I'd send a letter by post (with a courtesy $20 bill slipped inside) and 3 months later I'd receive a response.

When it was first avaliable, I got the "Heritage Certificate" of my car and was happy with it.

Because of this thread, I decided to go and try this new service and see what I'd get... I was impressed with the quick response, but now, it's incorrect! Where it says "Interior Colour" it lists my Black paint code and for the "Exterior Colour" it lists my Red leather! :)

    Heritage Certificate was labled properly.

Also, conspicuously absent from the document, is the S/N of my car. It was listed on my Heritage Certificate.

I'll have to get in touch with them on Monday.

With mine they made the same mistake, they swapped the interior with the outside, according to the certifcate there should be leather on the outside.

Mine also were made available. Not only the colors were in the wrong places, but the engine type (209, 128F, etc.) was in the space marked for the chassis number.

If you look at the example on the request page, you will see the same errors. I wonder if anybody bothered to check the final product?

I notified Ferrari of these errors and asked for corrected copies.

On one of my cars, the Pininfarina and Ferrari records disagreed on the original paint color. I noticed this when I got a Heritage Certificate a while ago. I asked about it and finally Ferrari issued a new certificate with the Pininfarina version. The Colours document for this car just has blanks for both the exterior and interior colors. I guess that's how Ferrari solved the discrepancy.

I applied for my "heritage" certificate Friday (2/9) and got a downloadable one today (2/17) with the paint and interior color info transposed. Oh well.
At least it was a prompt response.

Is there value to a Heritage Certificate if I have the original window sticker stating serial number, colors and equipment?

You would think the original window sticker would trump about any document generated years later, as it is an original Ferrari document, and is contemporary to a particular car about a particular car, and has to be legally accurate at the time of sale.

I too have a copy of the window sticker for my car, given to me by the original owner, that not only states the chassis and engine numbers and colours but also the ignition/door key numbers too. Interesting and rare piece of history.

Of course the window sticker would be more important but, for so many cars out there, those documents were either kept as souvenirs, or simply, lost and/or discarded... That's where the Heritage Certificate can take that place and for those people, can make the car more legit.

    Hi,

I too received my Color Certificate in a very short time! On mine, all the information is in the correct place (exterior color, int. color), but under the model it states "308 GTB (XXXX)" - I just emailed them to see what is up with the 4 Xs ??

    Thank You,

    Anthony

Don't worry about it, all the 308s seem to have that. Mine comes out the same way.

You would also think, seeing as we are talking "heritage" here, that it would have been a nice idea for them to simply regenerate the format of the "old" window sticker, suitably updated for present needs. But no, some graduate graphic designer/marketing exec, who has no clue, has to justify his position by coming up with a 21st century solution that doesn't really work....ohh well!!

When I tried this Ferrari sent me a color for one of my cars that didn't agree with their own build sheet on the car, which I happen to have. It's pretty well known what the original color was, I just wanted to try out the feature.

Ferrari just rolled out their new 'improved' website. The owner's section is now closely embedded with the main website. You have to look hard to find the link for owner's section in the lower right. A direct link I've bookmarked before (http://www.ownersferrari.com) still works.

I logged into my account and found it mostly useless now. They lost one of my 'previous' cars. All of the previously requested heritage certificates/original vehicle colours (OVC) documents are no longer to be found (or I couldn't find any link that listed them). They 'lost' the build sheets in the last go-around. There is no classic documentation section where one used to be able to download owner's manuals, CSIA and homologation certifications. This is where one used to be able to request an OVC and see any that had been issued.

It looks like the owner's manuals, CSIA and homologation certifications are available by selecting one of your individual cars. Then a list of documents show up for that model only (but nothing for my 330 GT, just the 250 and 308).

There is a lot of access to the Ferrari store (and ads for same), current models, current model configurations, etc. In other words, unless you want to buy some stuff, I don't see any reason to bother to visit.

Oh well, that was the last 'free' thing that Ferrari would supply to an owner of an older car. I guess that someone has to support the 20 million dollars that they will spend on a new rear diffuser on the F60 (current F1 car) so they can be competitive. It just won't be me.
