    Hi,
My wife may be relocated to Brussels for work and I will be moving with her, so, as any logical person will do, i started to look around for info about, you know cars, what else :)

I have a few questions if you care to answer.

What is the market (price vise) for 2nd hand or new (if i can find any) Scuderia and/or 599s.
How about the tax for a non-citizen?
Approximately what may be the insurance cost, for say a €200k+ car.
If i find a car i like in another country, do i have to register it (change license plates, pay extra tax) to use it in Belgium?
Or buy from another EU country and drive to Belgium and use it there with foreign plates forever (i wouldn't like that tho).
And, although i will be able to drive with an international license for some time, i think i would like to have a Belgium license (if we're gonna stay more than 1 year), so, do you have any info about acquiring a license for someone who has international license.

    Thank you..

I lived in Belgium for six years, so I can address how this was up to about two years ago which is when I moved away.

    I cant answer this one

Unless you are tax exempt for some reason you havent disclosed you will pay the full taxes as anyone else in Belgium.

Approximately what may be the insurance cost, for say a €200k+ car.

I kept my US insurance while I was there, so I cant answer this question

There are plenty of places to buy cars in Belgium. I cant answer how it would be, but I didnt have to pay excise taxes to bring my car in from the US.

See the Gendermerie and inquire about the International license. I think you may be able to get that even from Istanbul and it would be valid across Europe.

FWIW, I had a friend who had a Scuderia in Belgium and his road taxes were more than 5k Euro annually. That may give you some idea there.

Hope this helps a little bit.

    Thanx for the reply Patrick.

I did a little research and found that there are 2 road tax, "tax release" and "annual road tax".
I guess you pay the 1st one only once when you buy the car and the other every year. The highest figure for road tax is something like 3.700€, and release tax for a new car is 5000€, so i think that will be it.

Someone owning a scud or 599 in Belgium can give more accurate info about the subject, if they like to chime in.

About the tax deduction/exemption; if you are not a Turkish citizen you can buy a 458 italia in turkey for the net factory price, something like 175k €, however if you are a turkish citizen you have to pay all the taxes and the price doubles (102% tax), that was what i was talking about.

And on the market/price subject, Depending on the limited info i found, the tax (vat) is something like 21% so is the 458 cost 220k €ish new?

    cheers..

    Francorchamps Motors Antwerp:
    http://www.dealer.ferrari.com/francorchamps/antwerp/ferrari-approved-pre-owned.php
    They have a 599 for €235.000

    Garage Monza (in Ghent):

Further you can find second hand cars at:
    http://fr.autoscout24.be/
    http://www.autozone.be/auto_j2ee/alg/pag/a_index.jsp?locale=en_GB

I do know cases where police took actions, because they saw a car a long time in Belgium with a foreign license plate.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards

    Hey Ahmet!

    Welcome to Belgium!

I strongly advise Garage Monza, the official Ferrari Dealer near Ghent. I am a customer there since more than 8 years, you'll find very able and confident people there.

Registering a car in Belgium is easy at DIV, see this link:
    http://www.mobilit.fgov.be/fr/index.htm

The annual cost of €5000 road tax, mentioned above, is not correct: this (big) amount has to be paid only once, at the first registration of a new Ferrari. It is called " bringing in traffic-tax"
If you buy a secondhand Ferrari, you'll pay less, depending on the age of the car.

The "tax de roulage", which has to be paid annually, is around €1200 for a Modena, more than €2000 for a Maranello, €60 for any oldtimer, a '62 GTO or a '80 208 GTB (at least 25 years old).
Those taxes are based on the volume of the engine (3.6 L for a Modena for instance), oldtimer tax is a forfait.

Insurance rates are very "individual", depending on how old you are, who else is driving the car, where you live,... so very variable.

If you require more info, I'm very willing to help.
    Ciao!
