A slipcase would have helped, but I wasn’t going to let its absence dictate the decision. I have other books in slipcases, usually laying horizontally on tops of bookcases. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Well that was my opinion too. I understand the concept of gravity effecting the heavy pages and the binding after time but that would be more evident if the book was say left half open in a vertical position for ages. If it was stored in a tight fitting slipcase or even stored hard up against two other books (if no slipcase) the force against both the front and back cover will keep the pages from ever moving, take the weight off the pages and stop gravity taking its toll.

Yes, what a deal! I was a hefty bidder in that auction, and went up to 2.100 euros in recent days. Every bid of mine was outbid by an automatic maximum bid. But now I see in the list of bids, that the automatic maximum bid ended at 2.150 euros, so just 50 euros more, and that the new, successful bidder then just paid 10 euros more - oh my God ... I was so close to get it ...
I put an offer but then gave up - there were some automatic offers and I don't know up to where they were going... And in case I will buy one in the future, inflating the result by triggering new offers was not my interest This was the even more special edition if I understand correctly, and currently "regular" editions are proposed for more... hopefully there should be some price adjustment.
As I always say, when it comes to motoring books standard editions (their are some exceptions) out perform all other book editions.
I was the 2.150… and i would have gone to 3.500, because this version is just spot on and in my eyes it‘s definitive minimum double to triple worth of the standard version, just out of a collectors view.
If a great one show up i sometimes buy double and don’t use the better for reading anymore or gave it to a friend, like my double standard Ferrari in Camera as an example.
#33 is water damaged according to Mark’s registry and yet the seller is seeking the highest price. Are all of those blue editions?
Still, #33 is advertised as "VGC" (very good condition ?); #33 and #860 are from the same seller. I cannot see #518 on ebay, but there's #517 at abebook. From the pictures, they're all blue.
Always hard to judge from a photo, but 518 seems to be the only one in good condition. Just keep in mind that all of these books are almost 30 years old, and many of them had little imperfections when new. To find a 'as new or perfect copy' is not easy.
I rejected 5 or more copies before settling on purchasing my mint copy in its original packaging. Just like with classic cars, as time goes on it's harder to find one that hasn't been F#@ked with.
Reading all this just now....goodness me - I really don't know whether to feel quite proud, or once robbed... DCN (PS - I think, upon reflection, I incline towards the former - so thanks everyone) Image Unavailable, Please Login
