I bought Konradsheim's Carrera RS book from them at a ridiculous discount.

So they released FIC in 1996 and it seems they were still selling standard (all be it red) editions brand new through the Palawan website up until 2018 or so.
    Is that correct?

Yes and no. All copies were finally sold out. Due to the cult status of the book the publisher decided to assign 32 numbers of destroyed copies to book blocks that they still had on the shelf. These copies were all hand bound in red buckram and offered for sale.

I think around the same time I bought the RS book for $75 from L'art et L'automobile, a deal for sure

Different times now, seems there's no bargains to be had.

Today print runs are smaller, paper more expensive ect. But there will always be bargains, you'll find out.....later.

There can be at large "in person" auctions. Online bidders don't want to pay to collect, pack and ship the books(plus high commissions). There are some good opportunities from time to time.

I think there are less "bargains" out there then say 20 years ago with the internet providing such an easy way to get a value on things these days.

Most people these days know what they have, but having said that I've bought a few bargains in some auction houses, mainly when a few books are sold as a bundle once you break down the value per book.

#820 is up for sale at a price of 1,495 USD at eBay:

    https://www.ebay.de/itm/203949525849?hash=item2f7c56cb59:g:L5wAAOSwmkFifwUz

The seller writes about a "very good condition" and an "excellent condition" (which one is it now?), but one of the images shows heavy damage and a huge scratch at the back cover. So the phrases "very good" and "excellent" are up for discussion ...

Yeah, scratch and corner damage look nasty.... anything but "excellent".

These phrases are neither trademark protected nor certified in any way. Comparable with the car market. "A very strong runner" :)
Something different. While I love my "Ferrari in Camera" it also was the trailblazer for many overpriced books to come, which very even more expensive, but lightyears behind Ferrari in Camera regarding quality.

Re-visiting this site always puts a kind of wry smile on my face. I think if we divide the then-generous sum that publisher Simon Draper paid Geoff Goddard and me by the number of books sold we would be lucky to have earned around £12-£15 per copy. All these years later they sell for how much?

Fortunately, Geoff (who died in April 2006 aged 76) and I went into it with our eyes open, and the book's status today pays homage to him and to his wonderful work. We preserve his originals today in The GP Library Collection.

Did miss this back then. R.I.P Geoff. I also love your work on "Track Pass", which I purchased soon after Ferrari in Camera and was already a rare item back then.
