Id like to track the history of a car that was originally purchased in Japan - where's the best place to start ? Cornes ? Ferrari Club Japan ? Registration authorities?
    Any hints?

    Thanks

That could be tough as not all cars are imported or serviced through the official agent. There are a lot of parallel importers in Japan and cars don't necessarily come directly from Maranello, but instead via the US or European countries. If it is a Cornes car they should be able to provide you a service history, but be prepared for that to be in Japanese. Registration authorities would be next to useless. I guess you might get lucky with the Ferrari Club, but once again I doubt it.

Sorry I know I haven't been much help but those are the facts as I know them. I'd recommend getting someone to check the car over there and basically take your chances. You're hopefully getting a decent deal on a grey import anyway so you should have a little something left over for minor fixes. I sent 2 of my personal cars (non F-cars) back to Sydney when I was living in Tokyo and had the same "history" issues; although as I'd bought them both new I could at least personally vouch for them.

    Good luck with it Mike.
