I was channel surfing yesterday and caught the race sequence in "Viva Las Vegas". I do believe that the Ferrari in the race was a 250 TDF. Since the film was made in 1964 I was wondering about the authenticity of the car. If it was real, it was a shame it was rolled, or maybe it was a standin look a like car. Anyone have any info?

I have this movie on tape and the car being rolled is definitely not the real Ferrari. It looks more like an MG or even a Jaguar or something.

I believe there's at least another Ferrari participating in the "race" which looks like a 750 Monza or 500 Mondial.

    Ciao, Peter

Love the scene where the statled father drops the hood, at the time it was an older banged up race car
now these precious artifacts are treated like museum pieces. I guess that is a good reason to have a great recreation
to really drive and use with impunity as Enzo intended.

Cool cars in the movie though, was racing really that dangerous, can you imagine a race over hoover dam and across the dessert today.
Oh wait its the carrera panamerica and they use recreations and what have you.
