"My favorite Ferrari is the next one" as Mr Enzo Ferrari himself got used to say.
The only brand that is comparable to Ferrari is Porsche IMO . And they arent as fun or as emotive as a Ferrari . The rest isnt even comparable .
Ferrari has reached a point where it can't be compared to anyone else. What other brand in the world can afford to sell its product at a price about 50-60% higher than its market segment average (think Porsche 997 and Corvette C6!) and STILL have a 3-YEAR WAITING LIST? ??? I tell you, in terms of brand image NOTHING compares to Ferrari today. I wonder if historically any brand (car or otherwise) has achieved the same kind of "total superiority" that Ferrari enjoys today? Any ideas?
There is still no 997 in the Ferrari market segment. You can´t compare the current 997 S (355 HP) to the F 430 (490 HP). The 997 Turbo will start in spring ´06 and will be comparable to the F430, even the same price-range. I can´t see a 50-60% higher price for the Ferrari, may be 10%, not more. If Porsche would have such a little output then Ferrari, they would have the same waiting list and the past shows, the Porsche customers would wait as long as the Ferrari customers. Bernd
Yeah, i agree on that. TVRs' are cool as well, they have something very different and much more daring than anything else in the industry right now. Simply, they lack a proper ABS (at least), and some decent aero work, as well as some fine tuning, since every newspaper quotes them to be VERY tail-happy.
Hey russian dude, I am wondering: are you the guy that recently bought the TVR factory, by any chance??? I love the Sagaris and I have always loved the Cerbera, but man the quality problems... I remember asking a TVR dealer if I moved from the UK to mainland Europe would they provide any assistance... he looked at me horrified, and said that he wouldn't risk driving a Cerbera in Europe - no international assistance and guaranteed serious breakdowns! If even the dealers didn't trust their own products... I walked away
Disagree... Lamborghini has been a direct competitor.... Porsche compares with BMW more directly than to Ferrari. You can only really distinguish this, by the marque's principle. Ferrari and Porsche are like Caffe Mocha and Caffe Latte. - serve different purpose and would be desired accordingly, but both have a nice twist and flavour and make you feel good either way.
Ha ha! I like a Latte Machiato or an Espresso Doppio. Where does this put me? A BMW with a sportsexhaust?
I am surpised to see that there is not much commotion going on about the new FXX. What do you guys think of this car?
Did you see the GF sections? Lots of conversations there. BTW: I see our FXX pics we took at Fiorano during our trip travelling around the internet. Still a little proud we had a "primeur".
... and NOTHING compares to the fact that other guys try to sell their products with the description "Ferrari Red". (permission or not) Even the newspaper autors are using this term to describe a certain colour; probably not with the intention to support Ferrari by 'hidden advertisments'. This brand is sitting on a whole colour (only two in the spectrum left). Not strong enough just to say "Tomato Red" for red things? cinque
