Just got through watching windtunnel and guest co-host reporter Ed Hinton says " Ferrari is poison to F1" because of their scorched earth, cost is no object, approach.
In some ways I feel the same although I've been a Ferrari fan since 1974.
Total domination by one team in any sport usually is harmful to it in the long run.
I am actually relieved that this season shaped up to be competitive between several teams and drivers.
Here's hoping for a close finnish to the best season in recent memory.

Ferrari this year and Toyota for many years have shown that money, while important, is not everything.

As long as we have good races, I do not care about one team dominating at all ...

This year we are seeing better races.

Total domination... sure. But dominant teams actually foster sports... people become attached to loving or hating that dominant team.

What would baseball be without the NY Yankees?
Michael Jordan and the Bulls generated additional interest in basketball.
    Lance Armstrong has transformed bicycling.
The Dallas Cowboys were the most loved AND the most hated team in American football for many years.

The key is to generate passion... not just excitement. Some amount of stability helps people grow attached such that there's passion... not just competition.

F1's problem has nothing to do with Ferrari... it has to do with rules that do not foster passing.
Wings are poisoning F1, not Ferrari!

I haven't watched motogp (the motorcycle equivalent to F1) in a long time
and I just happened to catch the Japanese race on Sunday (18 Sep).

And ......... I have to say that motogp is a WHOLE LOT MORE EXCITING to
    watch than F1.

    anyone think the same ?

I have to disagree with Pete that we've seen better races this year, while there have been a couple of good races it's been mostly the same as the last few years, the only difference being who's at the front when the race is over. The cars still don't overtake because of the ridiculous aero rules and with the tyre rules there isn't even any excitement in the pits anymore. In fact Silverstone and Hockenheim, which have been the best races to watch over the last few years were quite pedestrian this year. I think the only races I've really enjoyed this year were San marino and Monaco.

Interesting ... the Silverstone race I watched was close to a race long battle!, awesome.

You guys have to compare that to the last few Ferrari dominant years where the only question over the race result was how many seconds was MS going to embarrass RB by! I was so bored I completely stopped watching F1.

Anyway we all have different views, and yes I would like to see different aero and tyre rules.

We've seen a couple GP2 races live this year and they have been much more impressive than F1,with the exception of the San Marino GP. The FIA is to blame for the lack of show in F1 not Ferrari. Toyota's F1 budget is reputedly more substantial than that of Ferrari. Talk about dominance - what about the early years when Mercedes was ruling the roost? In another venue - dominance - what about the Audi R8 in endurance racing. At this point in time in F1, you pretty much know (and have known for the past few races) how the outcome MUST be and although team orders are not "allowed" there are so many ways around that and the manuvers become blatently obvious. The "non verbal" team orders in Brazil should prove to be interesting. Now who is poisoning F1 - NOT Ferrari.

I totally agree with that, MotoGP is so much fun to watch because there is so much overtaking even though Rossi is winning all the time.

Ed Hinton also slated Bernie Ecclestone for his meddling with the USGP at Watkins Glen (comparing it to the tradition of Monte Carlo) with ever increasing sanctioning fees and then cherry picking American cities such as
Detroit and Phoenix were organizers were left disgruntled and broke.

Hinton had strong opinions on the USGP debacle at Indianapolis this year insisting that Max Mosley (whom he referred to as "Bernie's puppet") should have lost his position as a result of the indecision to run the GP with a full
field and not include a chicane on the circuit.

I agreed with a lot of what Hinton was stating last night. Ferrari's "win at all costs" approach left many of the independent teams in the shade and his prediction that Ferrari's budget will be $1B annually within two years of the new V8 formula will likely come to pass.

I read somewhere that there is a $50,000 F1 cost built into the price of all new Ferraris sold.

I look at that as a backhanded compliment to Ferrari. Still the comment is ridiculous. Even if Ferrari won ever race, is he recommending they make themselves worse? Maybe he feels that when Jordan was in his hayday that he should have done things to himself to make himself less good at basketball. That's just plain silly.

If Ferrari is that good, it can only elevate the sport! It will continue to force others to reach for the bar that has been set. IMHO, the worse poison for F1 is if every team was mediocre and equal, because if no one raised the bar, no one would improve!

The Yankees spend a fortune are still haven't won in 5 years. The bulls with MJ took sometime to get a title then dominated. Part of the interest was to see if they could do it or not. When Ferrari wins 4 years in a row, with basically just one driver and another just paid to help him then it does get boring and it is bad for F1. Combine that with the fact that passing is next to impossible in F1 then what exactly are we watching? it's just a 24 car test session really. Can you blame people for tuning out? To the causal observer then it's very boring and they don't get into it.
