This may be a weird thing to ask but there is the kick in the back when doing gear shifts on California T especially close to rev limiter. It is a lot of fun for me.

I noticed I did not feel those when driving the Roma or the Portofino.

What is causing it on Cali T? Torque-wise Portofino and Roma should be similar with Cali T, isn't it? Is it because of the gear ratios?

My Porto kicks when I’m in sport mode and shifting with the paddles.

I can report that I got that with my Cali T HS and with my wife's Portofino if I am in manual mode and driving aggressively.

I should also report that in the 812 it's really noticeable.

It is there because Ferrari wanted it to be there. It has nothing to do with power or torque - it's an E number. It's added to "enhance" the experience. In reality it is compmetely pointless and benefits nothing. A race car with a well programmed gearbox is butter smooth. Shifting jerks wear things and upset the handling. As a test driver once said, it is there to give someone who don't know what a race car feels like an artificial sensation of what a non-racer might think a race car feels like.

From an actual drivers and handling
perspective, smooth is better and wear parts much less.

Cali T vs Cali T HS, more kick in the back with Cali T HS but ......
The gear shift algorithm is dialed up for faster shifts -- 30 percent faster on upshifts and 40 percent faster going down. for Cali T HS vs Cali T.
