I still enjoy the manuals in the F40, CGT and GT3 RS. You can be faster with the new paddles for the reasons you mention, but you can't have fun "dropping the clutch" at a start or at speed. I also enjoy trying to imitate the speed and rev-matching of paddle shifts with a manual. I guess it's sort of like bicycling vs motorcycling or swimming vs surfing. There's more things you have to do that makes it fun for people who like the extra stimulation.

The shifter in the F40 and CGT is a bit slow and clunky, but the GT3 RS shifter is very precise and fun to use. I understand Porsche is moving to paddle shifters in the new GT3. Maybe they'll stop selling bicycles also.

You can always use the "launch control" function which is ever greater fun and a higher sense of occasion! ;)

I like manuals, but after the fantastic F1 in the F430 I have no craving for a self shifter.

Why the pushing? No running gear yet?

Seems silly. Just my irrelevant view but, if it's not ready, don't put it out there.

Ugly stripe on the tires. I want to see this car with a single color. Too much going on with the mirrors, mouth in nake CF and the clashing yellow..

I am wondering if it doesnt need to be two tone like this to show off the shape, perhaps in a single colour it just looks too rounded with no definate styling points.

An ACR is no more of a race car then a 430 scud or a 360 CS.

Not any of the cars in the title of this thread but an interesting look at how Mercedes uses electric power. The next generation will definitely be all electric.

To see a car sliding and oversteering like that......and hear NOTHING from an engine is just plain WEIRD! The dead silence of an all electric car has got to be the most underwhelming aspect of this burgeoning technology. It just leaves me cold.

I very much doubt that the next generation will be all electric. If anything, a petrol only engine (sans KERS) seems much more likely.

Yep, I have that big old "LC" button in the CS with all the warnings. I was always scared to press it.

Then one day I got the nerve. I pointed the car down a long deserted straight, checked my seat belt, grabbed the steering wheel tight, and took my foot off the brake.

    PRESS........ Nothing.

Guess I better read the Owner's Manual.

Not sure about matte or racing stripes which are 2 things i usually like. 918 is more about new engineering and tech than racing to me, despite the efforts of porsche pr dept
