    Great pilot and great man.

What an enormous loss...he was a great man, a great driver a great engineer. I talked to him at Le Mans when I went there for Cavallino 93 to 96 and he was very gracious with a kid like me the first year when discussing an article I was preparing on the Maserati tipo 151 he said you are very young to write about history so I sent him copy and the following year he said good job, that meant a lot....

I interviewed him in June from Geneva by phone for an hour for two books I am preparing he was in the south of France we did it in English since both books will be in English and he spoke it fluently. His memory was sharp, he was very perceptive, but he was tired....he was 90, born in le Havre in western France, but Belgian.

    RIP Monsieur.

Paul Freré was invited by Matthias Ficht (Vice-President of Ferrari Club of Germany) and myself (member of The German MASERATI Club) for a combined event 4 years ago high up in the Dolomites in Bassano del Grappa were also Maria Theresa de Fillippis was present.

I remember Monsieur Paul driving Matthias`250 GT Lusso with great verve in the pouring rain. The owner was very impressed!

    R.I.P.

    Ciao!

A great loss - such an eloquent writer and amazing driver - he enabled me (and I'm sure many others) to touch the performance most of us will never be able to experience.

Fortunately through his writing his memory will never fade!

    RIP
